Named after the most famous export of the Slavic states, we've taken a very little known style, amped it up and kegged it for your drinking pleasure.

Kvass is traditionally made with Rye Bread as a way to use leftovers at home, fermenting on the windowsill, typically resulting in a low ABV, nutritional fermented beverage, and with herbs and fruit added for flavour.

But we've thrown that out the window it normally ferments next to and amplified it up to 4.7%. A small amount of strawberry, lemon and mint to contrast with the spicy notes from a huge amount of rye that makes this beer what it is.

Summer of 2017, on tap at Craft Room, Opatovina, Zagreb. Hazy golden, small off-white head. Malty, fruity, also hoppy. Reminding of a pale ale. Mostly dry and bready. Medium body, high carbonation, dry finish. Doesn't feel like a kvass.

On tap at Garden brewery Zagreb. Yellow/golden coloured, medium sized white head, whiff of peach and cheese in the nose. Sweet malty, peachy, fruity hoppy, slightly lactic and touch of yeast with mild herballish finish. Had better had worse.

Keg at The Great British Beer Festival 2017, Olympia, London. A hazy golden/orange coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Hoppy, citrus, tropical fruit on the nose. Tastes similar, quite fruity and thin. I expected more from Tiny Rebel but it is OK.

Keg (!) @ GBBF ’17. Pours a misty golden yellow. Aroma is surprisingly fruity, some berry fruit. Taste is light, with strawberry notes, some mint, light spice, pale malt, light rye. Interesting kvass.

Tap at Craft Room. Misty full golden body, not too lasting white head. Strawberry yoghurt aroma, sweetish. Lighy thin taste, strawberry/peachy sweetish, nice, but a tad flat and empty in the finish. Hmm. Gets dry. And estery, strangely so. Much nicer than first time I've had it.

Keg at Craft Beer Co St Mary Axe, 20/06/17. Fruit cocktail aroma, with a sour edge. Opaque amber. Thin white head. A high note of sweetness before a bitterness kicks in. This gradually reduces in strength. Medium bodied. Water down oil. Light carbonation. Muted finish. OK but a bid of an odd mix, taste wise. Didn’t do too much for me.

Tried at the Craft Rooms. Lincoln. Hazy reddish orange colour with a white head. Aroma is light strawberry ice cream. The taste has strawberries with a creamy body that makes me think of Strawbeery ice cream in a glass.
