De tien slaat zowel op het alcoholgehalte als op het 10-jarig bestaan van bierproefclub "Orde van de zatte Mus". De ontwikkeling van dit bier was een zware bevalling. In totaal hebben ze acht proefbrouwsels gemaakt in de hobbybrouwerij alvorens ze pas echt tevreden konden zijn over het resultaat. Kleveretien is bijna zwart, maar heeft weinig tot niets van een stout. De smaak is overwegend kruidig met een toets van drop (steranijs), caramel en donker fruit. Op het einde komt de alcoholwarmte meer naar boven.

Aroma is a bit sweet and spicy. The flavour is sweet with some dark fruits at first then aniseed and a hint of caramel in the finish. Texture is thick and oily. Reminds me of Black Jack sweets.

Bottle @ "kantine ATAC Turnhout". Dark brown color with a dark red glare coming through when held into the light, medium to full sized beige head that lasts for a long time and leaves fair to good lacing. Aroma is malts, sweet chocolate, dark fruits, a hint of leaves and a bit earthy. Taste malts, leaves, earthy, dark fruits, caramel malts, a hint of caramel sugar. Medium body, firm fizzy carbonation.

Bottle from Ohtsuki. Caramel, licorice, dark chocolate, alcohol fumes, raisins and dried figs in the aroma. Nice, rich, stewed aroma. Black with a thin head. Roasty flavor, with alcohol, dried fruits, burnt caramel, stewed fruit. Licorice. Interesting, more roasty and burnt than expected. Thick, rich palate, though not top heavy. Nice, interesting, different. Good stuff. Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā

From bottle at ZBF2011. Pours dark brown to black with a small tan head. Aroma is annis seed and dark roasted malty. Sweet dark malty, spiced, toffee and liqourice. Lingering dry and slight spiced into a dry and bitter finish.

(bottle, 33cl) Dark brown, opaque colour with a brown and dense medium-sized foamy head. Sweet and slightly yeasty toast-malty aroma with notes of anise and dried fruits. Sweet-bitter flavour with a light tinge of sourness, full bodied with a moderate carbonation. Toast-malty, slightly fruity taste with present spicy notes, accompanied by notes of dark chocolate and liquorice; moderately sweet and bitter finish with rather strong spicy notes and a moderately alcoholic bite. (Bottle, 0.33 l - generously offered by fonefan, at the 16th Kerstbierfestival) The beer poured almost black. Its head was small and light brown. Aroma had malts and mildly roastedness. Palate was medium bodied and warming with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, roastedness, liquorice, sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste had liquorice and low bitterness. Tasty beer resembling more a stout that a Belgian strong ale.

Bottle 330ml. @ The 16th Kerstbierfestival 2010, Heuvelhal, Kapelstraat 7, B-2910 Essen, Belgium.Clear dark brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel, moderate yeasty, dark fruit, loads of anis - licorice. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, spicy, anis, dry. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20101218]

Medium, beige head over black beer with ruby sheen. Chocolate, nougat, herbs (cilandro?); bit soapy perfume. Sweet-light bitterish taste with chocolate, chocolatemalt, and discreet (sweet) spiced. Amandine/rosewater. Feels pretty carbonated, alleviating the rather heavy body, slick. Iām not a fan of spiced (litteraly) beers. This one, however, proves that, if moderation is maintained, it can be done with good result.
