From tap. Dark brown almost black color with beige head. Malty aroma, light roasted, licorice, caramel, bready, light hoppy, grassy. Sweet and bitter taste like aroma. Light to medium oily body with soft carbonation.

Bottle at home. Rogge en gebrand graan. Niet zoet en dat is fijn. Potgrond! Droog, en toch wel gek zo’n zwart dropje met weinig alcohol. Waterig.. Smooth and malty with a pleasantly bitter taste. Light hint of caramel. Relatively light carbonation to begin with, flattens at end.

Das Köstritzer ist wohl das bekannteste deutsche Schwarzbier. Auch wenn es beim Aromenreichtum mit neuen Craft-Schwarzbieren nicht mithalten kann, so überzeut es doch durch seine solide Ausgewogenheit.

0.33l bottle. Very dark ruby body, light beige head. The aroma is quite clean, but not so intensive. It has notes of caramel, grains, dark fruits and cocoa. Taste of caramel, chocolate, toast and some dark fruits with a hint of spicy hops. Light medium bodied, quite easy to drink. I like it.

Brings back memories from 2005, Duisburg with my mates Bule, Mile and ?ele. Rating it only now. Dark brown with small beige-brown head. Strong roasty aroma, some nuts, caramel and smoke. roasty kick, pleasant wood aroma, well balanced sweetness and bitterness. Very happy because of this!
