Octopod is a hyper-viscous Imperial Milkshake IPA with a good helping of lactose and vanilla. Re-fermented on over half a tonne (more than 300g/l) of Alphonso mangoes and passion fruit. Generously dry hopped post-fermentation with both Citra and Mosaic T90 hops.

How on earth is this 12%?! Thick, sweet, tons of lactose, vanilla and fruit. Passion fruit and mango used to great effect, super tropical. This isn't beer, just a can of liquified Solero icecreams.

Can split at Level 6, thanks to the Kenny, 28/11/18. Looks like a couple of fucken egg yolks dumped in a glass ... not good. Nose is sweet malts, mango pulp, orange zest, custard. Taste comprises bittersweet tropical fruits, sugary twang, lactic nip, mango, sweet melon, bitter orange, fruit syrups. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with balanced hop bitterness. Scroll past !

Level 6 Bottleshare. Can. Pure mango pulp colour, small pale mango colour head. Smooth palate, reasonable fine carbonation. Smooth light malts, light creamy sweetness with nicely integrated vanilla. Good mango and hop spice and a developing spicy bitterness. Passion fruit provides some tartness. Smooth fruity vanilla finish. Little red berries. Interesting and drinkable.

440ml can. Pours opaque orange with a yellow(!?) head quickly dissipating. Aroma of ripe mangoes, vanilla, passionfruit, quite literally smells like a milkshake. Taste is very sweet, intense mango and passionfruit, vanilla, lactose, some hop (and probably alcohol) burn and a bitter pithy finish, it's strong but not 12% strong. Full bodied, thick creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. The sheer audacity of brewing something like this... crazy beer. Love it but couldn't drink much of it. Reckon it'd be better at around 8% or so.

Can from Eltham Wines, Eltham. Milky orange pour with a yellow head. Nose of lactose, orange chewits, banana toffee, tangerine. Flavours of orange milkshake, more orange chewits, hot spice, aniseed, mango paste. Long, sweet spicy finish. Interesting.

440ml can. Super sweet, heavy with artificial vanilla, mango juice, creamy lactic notes, tropical fruits, loads of hop burn and tartish passion fruity notes. A bit unbalanced and messy.

Aroma is sweet and stuffy with tropical fruits, fruit juice and vanilla. Flavour has fruit juice, grapefruit and . Odd menthol- and bush leave -fulfilled finish. Hop burn in the aftertaste. Not sure what to think about this but drinking this in quantities – how about no.

Can. Beer Central, Sheffield. Gloopy pour looks like mango juice in the glass. No head. Nose has mango and passionfruit. Peach sorbet. Vanilla ice cream. Touch of booze. Taste is super sweet, super bitter, and a little bit rank, all in one go. Holy shit, this is weird gear. Thick and sticky on the palate. Low carbonation. Lots of hop / alcohol burn. Acrid bitterness to finish. Wow. Ridiculous. No real idea if I like this or not.
