Bottle shared thanks to sic1314. Pours clear red brown with a ring tan head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, vanilla, woody barrel notes and a little overripe dark fruit. Flavor is over moderate sweet and light moderate bitter. Over medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottle (6.8%, 62 days aged) from Guildford Arms. It pours deep mahogany brown with a small white head. The nose is toasted brown sugar, caramel, vanilla, toasty coconut, fudge and bourbon. The taste is bitter-sweet, wood, toffee, vanilla, warming alcohol, varnish, leather and caramelised sugars with a dry, woody finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Quite a lot better than the rum version. Pretty decent.

Dark, clear red beer with an aroma combining malt, hop, caramel and fruit. The flavour has an initial sweet fruity hit. There’s almost a smokiness to the flavour but once the sweetness subsides the main thing is the malt. On the tongue the finish is tangy and hoppy. Quite an interesting mix of flavours and they manage to remain distinct. Very nice.

Bottle shared with Ashton McCobb. Best of a bad lot today. Pours a tan brown with thin white head. Vanilla, chocolate, coffee, rum’n’raisin ice cream. Demerara sugar on the taste. Good.

33cl bottle from Stockbridge Market. Appearance - opaque black with a thin attractive lace head. Nose - vanilla going into rum and raisin. Taste - vanilla and dark chocolate. Palate - medium to full bodied creamy texture not too cloying on the finish. Overall -yep this one definitely works. The best beer of the day - a disappointing day, mind.
