Notes from May 2009. Bottle from 2008. I figure it's of the last sixers from the old facility. Can't quite make out the batch... 9(8?)7229(8?)5(9?) Purchased at the Oak Tree Buy Rite in Jersey in early July of 08. I like it with a little hair on it. :) Ommegang Anniversary glass. Left out of the fridge till it sweats a bit. Big foamy bottle bomb of a pour, giving off a puff of lemon/lime yeast as it levels off. Digging my nose in I get much more macerated lemon & a little orange zest. It was a little more floral, & less intense 4-5 months ago. A settled, wheaty/amber body & wavy sporadic lace finish off this description. Taste is very crackery & yeasty. Immensely dry. Slight bit of a grassy bite. A few months ago it had quite an oily bite of zesty orange, though it was still quite dry on the finish. The bubbles bite just as hard. Past it's prime, even for my tastes. With the help of some sloppy notes though, it's suddenly a positive, if a bit nostalgic review. :) I've seen the banner floating in the new brewery, so hopefully it's just as enjoyable.

Old Bottle from Todd, unknown date but it has the older style label. A careful pour yields a brilliantly clear deep golden color with a huge bubbly white head that persists. Light oxidation that is sherry and faint cardboard but the aroma and flavor are still earthy spicy saison. Surprised it held up so well given the abv,

Thanks to decaturstevo for sharing this one. Overly frothy white head. Light, hazy yellow body. Funky light lemon aroma. Watery. Goes in no distinct direction.

12 oz bottle from Secret Santa. Pour is a slightly hazy very light white yellow with a lot of bubbles. Aroma is coriander, citrus and a tiny bit of earthiness. Taste is a lot of citrus - mostly on the lemon side of the scale. Pretty ordinary beer, though it was nicely situated somewhere between a Saison and a Wit. Santa was looking out for my favorite style, which is very cool.

A hazy golden beer with a huge yellow head. The aroma is sweet spicy with notes of lemon zest. The flavor is rather sweet with primary notes of lemon zest and yeast, leading to a dry end with notes of lemon and wheat.

Got this beer from a keg at a party. I was already drunk and this was a great transition away from the malt liquor that I was drinking earlier. A nice sweet beer, with a stale bite at the end. Definately a nice beer to swish around in your mouth. A good beer to swish around in the mouth and easy to drink even while heavily intoxicated.

Rambunctious, frenetic and pliant. Tastes like it should have a higher alky content than what is listed here. Pours cloudy yellow in my three stooges glass. Had little bits floating in it too! I just love catching those little bits between my teeth and biting down on them. Clears up a little after it sets for awhile. Odd fruity aroma and pretty fizzy. Not a typical pale yellow american beer by any means, has much more personality. Odd and interesting at the same time. Perhaps a mild yeasty flavor. Taste is somewhat similar to dry champagnes I have had. Not too bitter like many beers i have tasted. Purchased at Beaver Valley Beverage in Monaca, $1 per bottle.

Hazy blonde with a thin white head. Wheat aroma and skunky orange peels. Fresh wheat taste with light coconut. Rather disarticulated and aimless for a saison. Mondial 2005.
