From tap at the Underground location. Pours clear and golden amber with a small off white head. Aroma is toasted malty, light fruity. Toasted malt flavoured, light bitterness and a mild caramelish note. Toasted malty finish.

Draft at Yardhouse Virginia beach. No aroma. Crystal clear copper, medium yellow head. Weak notes of dried leaves. Generic bitterness afterwards, no personality. Less flavor than even Killians. Hard to believe the same fine brewery that produces Union Jack and Cal Pale 31 makes this swill. Sad.

From Trader Joes. The bottle only cost about $.90, and it is from a good brewery. ordinary enough amber lager, with mild malt. No complaints, but it is a style that just has nowhere to go. Thin palate.

Bottle @ home. I have absolutely no clue where I got this beer. Dark amber appearance with a light tan head. Kind of a dull, hardened caramel, slightly sweet aroma. Lightly piney, somewhat bitter, dull caramel malty, light toffee flavor. Pretty boring.

Very smooth, yet robust malty beer. I was very surprised with this one. Rated 4/1/04

On tap at Barney’s Beanary as Barney’s Amber Ale from Firestone. Long lasting off-white head over a clear amber body. Aroma of honey and light hop. Taste is malt tea, caramel, floral hops. Smooth, slightly undercarbonated mouthfeel.

12oz bottle brewed in New Ulm. Filtered orange-amber color. Head fades out into an oily layer. Mild clean vanilla-amber malt aromas. The taste is similar, with a simple toasty amber malt center. Maybe some light vanilla tones, as well as a mild, sticky bitterness in the aftertaste. A touch underwhelming, an awkward light-medium body. Pretty simple, straightforward, and inoffensive.

12 ounce bottle from Trader Joe’s, Short Pump, VA, brewed at Schell. Pours a clear amber color, appropriately enough. Thin head with decent head retention and lacing. Aroma is caramel with light nutty and floral hop notes. Taste is caramel, caramel and caramel with faint citrus hops that grow into a fairly finish. Medium bodied.

Bottle from Trader Joes - Short Pump on 05/17/2009. Clear golden amber body with a large foamy off-white head. Sweet caramel and pale malt aroma. Sweet caramel and pale malty aroma with some sugary notes. Medium body with moderate carbonation, though a touch watery.

Amber/red color with an off-white head. Mild sweet caramel flavor with a little fruit. Less than dry.

Combo smell of caramel malt and some decent, perhaps floral, hop. Dark amber brown color with a head that ringed, but leaves light ring lace. Medium bodied, with near creamy carbonation. Caramel malt with not quite enough hop to balance it. Yet the flavor is really good. Must be from the hop that gave it the floral nose. The finish is halfway dry, at least. There is some toffee and light bitter in the mouth. It’s pretty good.
