Draught at Hamnmästaren, Malmö
Hazy deep blond color with large compact head. Strong ginger aroma, also a bit lemony and soapy. Weak body, dry; it has a light bread flavor, some ginger and it’s pungency; relatively low bitterness with some bitter vegetables in the finish.
What to do with this half beer?

Flaske på RB-samling på Vistnes: lite aroma og skum. Smaken minner om klippfisk av en eller annen merkelig grunn. Litt kanel og ingefær i tillegg. Interesting, som en brite kanskje ville sagt.

Shared 355 ml bottle at local tasting ABV is 4.5%. Golden colour, moderate white head. Weak aroma, only a hint of ginger. More distinct ginger in the flavour, but not overpowering. A slight fruity acidity in the otherwise uninteresting pale ale base. Thin mouthfeel.

Amber with a slight haze. Ginger, toffee and malt in the aroma. Ginger, toffee, nuts and malt all feature in the taste. Not bad, but nothing too exciting either.

Bottle from Sugaya, 4.5% what a great looking beer, honey gold with a nice head of foam. The aroma is of a biscuity ginger lemon-nice. The taste is mostly ginger but nicely balanced with lemon, not too bitter or sweet. The ginger gives you a bit of fire in the finish. Good stuff, a nice low ABV table beer.

Bottle, 12oz. A clear one, well, slightly hazy, golden in color and with a white head leaving some lacings. Mostly ginger on the nose, with some orange peel. Ginger flavor too, with a good bitterness and some orange. Medium to full body, a bit heavy carbonation I think. Quite dry. Long flavor with ginger overpowering orange, leaving very little room to anything else except some bitterness. Ginger can be a nice addition to a pale ale, but I want it subtle, not running the show. 130821
