Ruby is a more fully blown version of the amber style. While beefier than the Firehouse, it contains a deep Ruby color, a powerful nose and a flavor of concord grapes and loads of carame. 2006 National Champion Amber at the USBTC.

Fizzy light red beer, with a soapy head that quickly shrinks to a small lace - farily strong, dry-hop nose, with notes of butterscotch (no, not diacytl), some hints of cherry and grapefruit - full carbonation in the mouth - strongly hopped, with crisp herbal notes up front, followed by caramel and chewy, bready malts, vanilla, oak - hop bitterness comes back to the fore, and the beer dries out again, leaving fresh, grassy hops lingering on the tongue for a loooooong time - not a great beer, but it’s pretty tasty.

Clear amber coloured body with some subtle brown tints and a nice off-white head. Aroma of fresh hops, a pleasant freshness and some malt. Medium-bodied; Fresh hop flavour up front fading to malt. Aftertaste shows no signs of the hops nor any other strong flavours-just fades into a nice finish. Overall, great to try-this isn’t one you see around much! Thanks to BuckNaked for this beer. I sampled this 75 cL bottle at the November RB party at Founder’s in Alexandria, Virginia on 20-November-2004.

2004 bottle compliments of bucknaked. Good deep amber orange red pour. Quite colorful but has very little white head. Aroma has tons of chewy caramel, lots of citric hops (grapefruit, oranges) Very fresh and juicy. Flavor has lots of bitter hops right away, good citric enjoyment. But then it gets nice and caramelly. Certainly it has established itself as a good American IPA (borderline double). The flavor is great and bursting with freshness, but the showcase, yet again, the smooth, perfect natural carbonation, and the wonderful balance (a bit on the sweet side this time, though). Great beer. Rerate. I can't say anything different about the wonderful palate, but the flavor really bothers me. It is dry, then sweet, then dry and all the time not very strong. The body is held together very loosley and I keep expecting a climax of flavor but it never really comes, the flavor just sort of hangs in the background and I just finish the beer wondering, "hmm, where did all that beer go?"

Hazy orange-amber. Lots of hop in the nose. Hoppy, lightly citric in nature, quite earthy with chocolate. I like these chocolate earth vs. citric hop ambers but there are a lot of them, which detracts from the appeal of any one individual.
