Bomber from Sake no Taniguchi, served in a snifter. I’d been meaning to try Revolution Brewing’s Mad Cow Milk Stout (7.5%) for awhile android finally got my hands in a bottle. The ABV is kind of high for a Milk Stout but it pours a beautiful inky black with a tan head. The aroma is savoury dark chocolate and molasses. Full bodied and smooth. The taste is savoury, a bit roasty, smokey, nutty and rich milk chocolate. This is a fine example of a robust or imperial milk stout.

Bottle on Amtrak Train 27 - The Empire Builder ( from Binny’s South Loop) - 04/11/12. Mid black with a frothy head that clears to the edges. Nose comprises roast malt, chocolate, molasses, liqourice, touch of smoke. Taste of milk chocolate, roast malt, a little hops. Alcohol well disguised for 7.5% ABV! Medium bodied with soft carbonation leading to a roast finish. Decent milk stout.

On tap in Denver for GABF 2012. Pours a black color with a medium tan head. A nice big milky nose with chocolates. The flavor is a rich milk chocolate with light metallic roast, very smooth. Good.

Sample at GABF 10/11/2012, thanks to Bluemeow76 for assistance with note-taking. Blackish pour with a creamy tan head and patchy lacing. Roasted coffee and malt aroma. Medium body with flavors of chocolate malt, coffee and molasses. Sweet malty finish with some mild coffee lingering. Above average overall.

Enjoyed on tap at Sheffield’s in Chicago, IL after seeing Will Johnson play @ Schubas. This stuff was exceptionally good. Appearance creamy and pitch black. Aroma of lactose, chocolate, a bit of nuts, coffee, pretty appealing. Taste was fantastic. I didn’t take notes while having this, just remembered this being great.

Draft taster, June 7. Deep black, with a thin head. Smell has some light chocolate, but the taste goes much deeper to cocoa country. Warming alcohol gives this an impression of a chocolate cordial. Overall impression is sweet, with a bit of roastiness and hoppiness in the background.
