We're best known for brewing aggressive, big-character beers, but we love a great sessionable ale as much as anyone. Most beers at the less-weighty end of the spectrum lack flavor and depth as much as they lack high ABVs, but not Stone Levitation Ale! This deep amber brew has a rich maltiness, big hoppy character, citrus overtones, and an impressively modest alcohol content for a beer with so much flavor packed into it.

Bottle bought from Bacchinalia, enjoyed in the comfort of my home. Ruddy brown, clear with a lot of carbonation and lacing. Light tan head. Aroma is earthy, caramel, hazelnut, honey and spruce. Bittersweet, hoppy and spicy initial taste fades to a light but sharp bitter. Caramel and grass notes in the finish. Gets better as it goes. Incredible stuff.

Nose is toffee, red berry, with light pine and citrus. Taste is pine, malt, red berry, slight rye then floral and peppery tones touch of lemon grass and salt in the finish. It’s more ESB than I finished, and the nose and taste don’t marry well for me. It’s OK

Cask at Churchkey. Labeled as dry-hopped with Simcoe. Clear copper, big-bubble edge head. Aroma of fresh hops. Flavor has caramel candy with a smoke edge. Very smooth. Bitter throughout. Nice.

Bottle from Beer Central, Sheffield. Clear amber. Untidy, off white, foamy head. Fruity sweet. Grassy hop. Taste is slightly, spicy dry. Some bitterness follows. Palate is a little watery. Finishes light bitter. Good session beer, albeit a bit thin.

355ml bottle from Appellation Wines, cheers Ash! Pours clear red-brown, thick off-white head. Aromas of pine, citrus, fruity hops. Taste brings malt character, near toffee, and more orange citrus. Light body, a tad thin perhaps, but a nice, long bitter finish. Good.

Keg at Craft, 26th June 14. Good amber ale, not a patch on Ruination and the other favourites from Stone though

Flaska från Privatimport. Djupt kopparöd färg med gulskiftande skum. Tydliga dofter av karamellkola, citrus och tall. Stram beska med tillbakahållen maltsötma. Ytterligare en höjdare från Stone. Mums till käk.
