Ever so slightly hazy golden blonde coloured body with a touch of an orange glow and a small, single centimetre tall off-white head that coats the beer nicely. Aroma of grass, hay, light yeast, biscuits, a touch of bread, some light herbs and a faint dose of caster sugar and some apricot sweetness. Light-bodied; Assertive effervescence; Strong yeast flavour with a super dry, white pepper bite that shows a lot of floral and grassy components that ends with a smooth, but noticeable apricot, peach and pear sweetness, all from fruits. Aftertaste shows the herbs and subdued grassy/hay flavours, but the yeast and floral complexity adds to the punch from the light pepper and astringent components. Overall, a pretty nice and well-structured beer that shows a lot of flavours and ranges for a beer that brings some Americanism to a Belgie Single, with a bit of a hoppy characteristic that coupled with the complex yeast strain makes this a bit more rounded. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Costco in Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia on 22-March-2018 for US$5,49 sampled at my house here in Washington on 18-November-2018.

Sampled on draft at Dad’s Pub & Grub this beer poured a dark amber color with a medium sized fluffy yellow-white head that lingered and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was crisp fruity and perfumey hops. The flavor was tart and tangy with crisp fruity and floral hops and bread dough. Medium length tart crisp fruity and perfumey hops. Light to medium body. Ok.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 8/15/2013. Pours moderately hazy and cloudy pale golden amber color with a 2 finger dense white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big lemon zest, orange zest, pineapple, peach, pear, clove, pepper, banana, bubblegum, wheat, floral, grass, and floral/yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of hop and yeast ester notes; with good strength. Taste of lemon zest, orange zest, pineapple, pear, clove, banana, pepper, bubblegum, floral, grass, wheat, and floral/yeast earthiness. Light earthy floral bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus zest, pineapple, pear, clove, banana, pepper, bubblegum, floral, grass, wheat, and earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice balance and complexity of citrus hops with fruity/spicy yeast esters; with a fair amount of flavor robustness and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly prickly mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very good hoppy Belgian style. Good balance and complexity of hop and yeast ester notes; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle: Poured a light hazy beige color ale with a large fluffy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of biscuit malt with light fruity ester and some floral malt. Taste is also a nice mix of biscuit malt with light fruity ester and some floral dry hops with light residuals sugar notes. Body is a touch fuller then average with good carbonation. Refreshing and somewhat complex beer.

Bottle shared by festero, thanks for the opportunity Dave! Pours a slightly hazy straw color with a smallish bone white head that dissipates rather quickly. The aroma is quite hoppy with a spicy citrus earthy herbal quality to it. Belgian yeasty esters take over and for me hide the sweet honey like maltiness in this brew. The flavor is a bit sweet up front with a solid shot of earthy spice. Medium body with a moderate to high level of carbonation and a sweet spicy mouthfeel. Decent brew, but not really my cup of tea. The hop forward character here is quite nice but for me the spicy yeasty phenols ruin it. Nice to try, but one and done for me.

Whole Foods, Bowery 650ml ($6): Pours a slightly hazy golden with a white head and lacing. Aroma is wonderful yeast that makes me say "that’s nice yeast," gentle hoppiness and an underlying fruitiness. Taste is lightly bitter, but in a nice guy kind of way. Very lightly sweet, but the aftertaste is actually a bit sugary. Some citrus flavors break through. Herbal hops are present as well. Nice complexity. Very nice to drink. Very happy I purchased.
