An Imperial Red Ale dry hopped with Summit and Simcoe. What are we calling it? You guessed it, Dirty Hippie. It weighs in at 8%, 95 IBU and has a whole lot of hoppy goodness balanced with a nice malt backbone that you would expect out of an Imperial Red. Does it really smell like a dirty hippie? Come on in, grab a pint and decide for yourself.

22 oz. bottle, pours a deep dark red with a small beige head. Nose smells like this is too old, with cardboard, resinous hops, and caramel malt. Flavour reveals resinous hops, caramel malt and light oxidation. Would be nice to try this fresher, but as is, it's decent.

Hazy amberish-brown. No head. Woody, chewy aroma. Big chewy hops, some sweet malts - actually a nice sweetness, it's just the hops that seem stale. Alcohol is muted. I think this isn't at its freshest, and if it was, you have to think it would be better.

Tap at Harry’s Hofbrau in Redwood City. Found the hops restrained and the malt a little cloying with the alcohol showing slightly through residual sugars.

Bottle at home. It pours a reddish orange color with an off white head. The aroma is mostly peaches with some hints of grapefruit. Very fruity with some notes of rich caramel and pine. The flavor has more toasted malt, light sweet caramel, grape, peaches with hints of lightly floral/piney bitterness. Toasted malt in the finish lingers with the bitterness. Good.
