The base of this beer is a robust porter that uses large amounts of chocolate malts to achieve a chocolaty flavour. Pumpkin is used in the mash along with traditional pumpkin pie spicing in the brew kettle. An English strain of yeast is used to give this beer a slightly fruity yeast derived flavour.

Flight pour at brewery. Pours black with off-white head. Aroma has rich roasted malt. Flavour has a ton of roasted malts and dark chocolate; not getting much pumpkin. Solid strong porter though.

Can: Poured a black color porter with a large light brown foamy head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma of roasted malt with some light chocolate notes and residual sugar notes. Taste is also a mix of light chocolate notes with some light roasted malt notes and some subtle cinnamon notes are also perceptible. Body is light with good carbonation. Not bad but a bit lighter than expected and pumpkin notes are very hard to distinguish.

Muddy black body and little foam, soft sweet barley on the nose. Flavour is more sweet barley with some tin notes. Full enough on the mouth. Rather artificial and boring.

On twp at the brewery. Pours an opaque dark brown with a weak head. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate notes and some bakery spices. Taste is slightly sweet with some appropriate cinamone and roasted malt notes. Same character aftertaste. Very good for what it is.

Nitro, St. Augs. Medium brown, nitro head. Aroma is pumpkin, light cinnamon, molasses. Palate has more molasss, pumpkin, dash of alcohol. Finishes with a little chocolate syrup note. Delivers on its promises, which makes it one of the better P49 beers.

650 ml bottle. Pours an opaque, dark brown almost black colour with a small brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, vanilla and just a hint of pumpkin pie. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, dark chocolate, vanilla and pumpkin spice with a bitter finish. Medium body with a thin, watery texture and soft carbonation.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Black color with nitro head. Mild aroma, the flavor is more pronounced, it has a good chocolate flavor, supported by mild sweetness. The cinnamon is very delicate, luckily.
Very good.

Poured from nitro tap. Near black with creamy off white head. Coffee roast and chocolate predominantly. Pumpkin and cinnamon very subtle in the background. Very creamy texture, could be the nitro.
