Bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout with hazelnuts
Inspiration can come from unexpected places. Initially created for a gastronomy dinner in 2012, Grey Monday was an appreciative complement to our hosts' epicurean craft. An ease to the Monday blues, this decadent treatment of Black Tuesday features Oregon-grown hazelnuts. Toasty and nutty characters play off bold yet smooth complexity in this bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout. Pair with inspiration to evolve your craft this week!

Bottle.
A- Dark brown color, dark liquid, no head.
A- Bourbon, caramel, milk chocolate.
F- Chocolate, caramel, faint nuttiness, oak, mild booze.
T- Full body, average texture, slightly flat carbonation, balanced finish.
O- Drinks more like a 9% beer than a 20.5%! Smoooooth. Hazelnuts are there but less so than I expected. 3 years old (2022 vintage). Maybe a hint of acetone as it warms. I wouldn't buy again for the price, but a very solid beer.

Wilde Bottleshare 17 juli 2025. Aroma is boozy, zoet, chocola. Smaak is zoet, alcoholisch. Brandende alcohol. Vrij volle body - maar ook weer niet moddervet. De hazelnoot is nauwelijks (meer) te bespeuren.

Bottle, 750 ml at my Grande. Dark brown with almost no no head. Caramel, chocolate, lots of bourbon, some alcohol coming through in aroma and flavor.

Side by side, the hazelnut is dominant here. Creamy.

Draught, kindly shared by Finn at Schouskjelleren. Black-rustic in the glass, film-type layer, scattered lacing. Promising aromas of chocolate malts, added by a scent of bourbon. Smooth black malt-forward taste of chocolate, nuts, wood, and dark bread. Long-lived warming tail with a bourbon touch. Decent sipper qualities. (Oslo 28.11.2022).

Delt med Rune. Svart. 0 skum. Bourbonaroma. Smaken pepperkaker - og whisky. Tørr, lett bitter avslutning. Forbausende lite alkoholpreg.
