This ale poured a clear medium amber colour with a half decent, creamy head. Scents include cascade hop, grapefruit and pineapple. First sip was smooth but a little thin. Flavours of honey, hops, bread and citrus. Finish is a little bitter with flavours of citrus hop and honey lingering.

Bottle from the Beer Store/ Pours a very clear copper with a generous beige head that quickly dissipates. Nose is caramel and citrus. Body is light, watery and fairly flat with some bitterness in the finish.

Location: Draft at the Brewpub, 7/7/13
Aroma: The nose is sublte hops, grass/orange, along with some caramel notes
Appearance: Pours a clear golden-amber color with a small off-white head
Flavor: The flavor components are much like the nose, it is light sweet and light-medium bitter
Palate: The body of this one is light-medium, it has a decent feel
Overall Impression: This was an alright, though a bit under-hopped APA. It still has more hops and more flavor than their standard IPA though, so that was nice to see. It actually exceeded my expectations.

Can: Poured a light clear amber color ale with a medium size foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of light citrus hops with non-descript caramel malt backbone. Taste is also dominated by light citrus hoppy notes with some medium sweet caramel malt notes. Body is lighter then average with good carbonation. This one is definitely lacking character.

Canette 473ml.

Tried this a few weeks back in a bar, on tap, and did not like it. Felt like a typical Keith’s brew and not sure why they were trying to get the beer geeks with a name like this, if it was going to taste like normal swill. Now, tasting it from the can so I can get a different perspective. Pours a clean amber colour with a slightly creamy, off-white head that is above-average lasting with decent lace. I can finally smell the Cascade in this one (which I could not from the other). Mild, but present. Average mouthfeel with not much dryness from the hop. The Cascade is also mild, but there, in the taste. Disappears quickly and the corn base brew shows up in the finish. So, much better from the can (as the draught did not show Cascade at all). Just not sure who they are trying to get with this marketing campaign and supposedly higher-end brew.

It’s admirable that some of these big Canadian beer companies are actually trying to make real beer - especially Oland, the creator of "Keith’s IPA". This, however, is at least actually an IPA. Pours orange. Some cascade hops but it doesn’t taste very fresh. A little malt at least. Bit of a sour aftertaste, palate is thin. Not great but there’s a lot of bad pale ales out there and this isn’t much worse than those. Tall can.
