A smooth well balanced traditional ruby bitter. Five different malts including crystal and amber create a rich toffee/cherry flavour. Earthy Fuggles and Goldings hops combine in a smooth English character with hints of kiwifruit and toffee.
Great with sausages or a Sunday roast. Also good with mature cheddar.

(Cask at White Horse, Parson’s Green, London, 27 Nov 2009) Dark reddish brown colour with creamy, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of dried fruit, prunes and a touch of coffee. Malty taste with dark bread, prunes, raisins, wort and spicy hops in a fairly dry finish. More than medium body. Nice and well balanced old ale.

500ml. Bottle conditioned. Champion of Great Britain 2005. Off-white head resting on top of a ruby coloured body. Firm and plain malty aroma. Flavoured with dark sweet malts, dark fruits added a moment of cocoa. Dry bitter endnotes. Medium bodied (11.08.2008).

Bottle conditioned at Cockney’s Pub, Århus
Dark amber to chestnut color, with a thin head. The aroma is maybe too simple. The flavor is solid, a straight Bitter, with strong caramel flavor and strong bitterness; maybe not exciting, but back to basics.

From cask at Three Judges. Pours golden deep amber to to brown with a small light tan head. Mild breadish and roasted malt aroma. Smooth and slight chocolate like. Vibrant caramelish dark flavoured with a light chocolate note and bit of liqourice. Light sweetness slowly appearing to an otherwise solid biter and roasted brew. Smooth roasted malty finish. Lovely.7-4-8-4-16=3.9
