bottle - Pours hazy yellow with a thin head. It has a light aroma of hops with a hint of citrus. Medium bodied and well balanced, it has a nice enough flavor and is enjoyable drinkable, though again for another of the numerous 500ml bottles of English ale that go for $4-5/bottle at stores here, I’m not thinking it’s good enough for the price. Still, it seems I liked it more than many reviewers, which is fine.

Dark golden colour with a fairly large amount of head. Sweet aroma, slightly floral. Citric taste followed by a juicey sweetness, quite well balanced.

Bottle. Clear, golden with a white head. Hoppy, fruity aroma with malt in the background, and some pine as well. Some caramel, malt, citrusy hops and some pine in the mouth. A bit thin body, but hey, it’s and English bitter. Balanced finish with emphasis on the hops, but there’s some caramel as well. A nice, quaffable session-beer that I would like to sample from cask as well. (070404)

Wow, here’s a surprise! Usually bottled English ales turn up boring, oxidized and dead. Typically we don’t get the more characterful of their beers. This one is an exception. Poured a true golden color with a big fluffy head, then settled into a nicely balanced ale. Spritely styrian hops were surprisingly citric in nature, with a lemon and orange zest character. The orange was perhaps a synergistic effect between the hops and some esters, and a biscuity/cookie malt base. Really well put together and a nice drinker.
