While originally thought to be hostile, eye-witness reports are now telling us that they are quote unquote "totally mellow chilled-out dudes and have brought peace offerings of lemony Sorachi Ace hops and fresh Devil’s Lettuce from the Dark Matter Mothership. Owl Farm: pours copper with a white head. Aroma is some citrus, coffee beans, malts. Taste is pretty mild for a coffee IPA with respect to the coffee but it is still there. Citrusy taste. Good body. However, I am not sure they achieved what they set out to do.

On tap at the Owl Farm, pours a hazy copper with a medium beige head. Aroma brings out light earthy coffee and a touch of citrus hops. Flavour is very earthy, with burnt coffee, light citrus hops and just an overall obscured character. The marriage of coffee in the IIPA doesn't work overly well. It's alright.

From a bomber. Pours a cloudy pale mahogany with a massive, frothy ecru head. Aroma of coffee and with some herbal notes. Moderately bitter finish, and smooth, smooth, smooth. This one is different and delicious.

Slightly hazy golden and copper coloured body with a rich, six centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of bright grassy and herbal hops with some light alcohol and metallic pungency, along with a hint of coffee notes. Medium-bodied; Assertive grassy and very herbal hops noticeable along with some lightly brewed coffee flavours with not much bitterness, some nice and fruity sweetness along with a bit of grassiness on the end and some herbal qualities. Aftertaste shows a rich and complex flavour of malt, a lot of hops (on the lower side of alpha acids), coffee and a smooth fruity sweetness. Overall, a nice rich beer that balances the flavours well and shows hints of the coffee, but not an overt take on a ’coffee ipa’. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from West LakeView Liqours in Chicago, Illinois on 11-May-2016 for US$11,49 sampled at home in Washington on 09-September-2016.

Almost clear amber beer, good pale cream colour head. Palate is airy and soft and semi dry. Fine carbonation. Smooth sweetish malts with a nice vanilla streak, like it had spent time on oak. Light lemony hops, quite mellow Sorachi, not sharp but rich. Sweetish crystallised fruits. Coffee? Perhaps a trace but it is very very mild. Smooth finish. A sumptuous and tasty treat.

Bottle. Pours a clear amber with a a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has lots of sweet grains and bread with a bit of pine hops backing. Flavor has lots of pine with some caramel and a good amount of sweet grains with a hint of earthiness.
