Again, the basic old and young lambic are matured in oak casks. But here we add to one year-old lambic about 400 grams of real cherries per litre. This creates a second fermentation in the casks. Oude Kriek Boon then undergoes a further fermentation in the bottle and has an alcohol volume of 6.5%. After several months, the flavour has matured to the desired taste.
Oude Kriek Boon is a test of your patience. It should lie about 2 years in the bottle. At first, it tastes of fruit, especially sour cherries. Oude Kriek Boon eventually evolves into a deep taste reminiscent of Port or Madeira wine. This is kriek at its best.

Bottle. Pours a dark red wth light head. Aromas of dark cherry, light cinnamon, and red grape. Flavors follow same with a little cherry pie and sour cherry mixed together. Dry. Nicely balanced and quite drinkable.

Pretty red colour, light pink foam. Lots of vinegar in smell. Carbonated. Taste is fairly sour, lots of cherries, some vinegar, some wood, and a good dose of funk. Pretty good, way better than the Framboise for sure, but not the best kriek out there.

Bottle, 2013 label, once bought at Wittich. Pours cloudy red with a dense pink head. Aroma is cherry stones, cherry, and so much that you could think it is artificial, but it isn't. Body is medium, pleasant cherry stones and fizzy carbonation. Intense cherry flavour, to the point of becoming artificial wine gum. Softly sour and tart, gentle, hints of vinegar. Pretty straight and not overly complex, but deliciously balanced. Good oude kriek!

On tap. Dark ruby colour, no head. Quite like condensed cherry juice with carbonated water. A bit of sauerkraut. Medium sour, light sweetness. Lively carbonation, light body. I expected something more wild, but still it's good.
