Sunshower is our Super Saison, a high-gravity farmhouse ale inspired by the ethereal refreshing mid-summer moments when we experience both rainfall and the heat of the sun in New England. Similar to our flagship Trillium, the mouthfeel is light and effervescent with a bright, golden hue. We allow the fermentation temperature to free-rise, resulting in a dry beer with strength and complexity. Layers of pepper and earthy characteristics that play nice with the crisp, smooth backbone of a pilsner and wheat malt bill.
Dry Hopped with Citra, this iteration of Sunshower leads with a nose of fresh bread, lemongrass, and a hint of bubble gum. Following the nose, a lemon forward palate with a touch of honey.

Cloudy, tan, thin head. Mellow citra and some slightly estery phenols, sweet, touch honeyish, a bit sticky...alcoholic. I swear this would be more like a citra tripel.

At the Greenway: pours hazy orange with a white head. Citrus and perfume. Taste is somewhat bitter. Soft body. Very similar to the previous beer I rated.

Pours pear and mango into a tulip. White head with little retention recedes to hug rim. Mango and pineapple aromas. Dry and bitter with peach, apricot and mango skin and pith upfront turning to hot pineapple in the lasting finish.

Bottle. Pours hazy golden, large white puffy head, nice lacing. Aroma is citrus, hay, passionfruit, black pepper, cat piss. Flavor is light sweet, light bitter, Belgian yeast esters, grassy, spicy, black pepper, citrus, passionfruit. Medium body. Tasty beer.

LSAT Freedom Trip #203. Bottle shared at a tasting. Hazy orange, thin foamy off-white head, good retention. Aroma of tropical, citrus hops and pale malt. The taste is tropical, citrus hops, pale bready malt. Medium bodied, simple, clean.

32oz growler filled early-mid September and drunk 9/19/15.
Awesome pour on this one, and like its brethren, the clarity is quite high throughout the copper-golden liquid. White head is large and slowly fades to cover.
Citrus in the nose, not surprisingly, showing plentiful lemon and orange rind, with some bread dough, light bubble gum and a bit of juicy melon towards the end. Alcohol is well-concealed in the nose, and while there’s a bit of peachy-melon in the nose, its less given to those heavy, messy esters than most of the other versions.
The flavor is certainly sweet, with a medium-full body though mitigated to some degree by the ample, mostly tight carbonation. Lots of lemon and orange, with light hints of pine bitterness, watermelon and candied orange peel. As with their other versions, none of these things say saison to me and again, it’s vaguely Belgian, at that. But drinkable nonetheless, though there is still some aspirin from the yeast in this one. The high points here being the wonderful mouthfeel and carbonation and relative lack of alcohol apparency and messy esters.
I really don’t know what to make of the Sunshower line. To me, it seems like a mid-gravity Belgian golden yeast that they ferment way too quickly and too hot.
