Bottle at Black Christmas 2018, vintage 2015, 3 years old
Cloudyb ommrange colour. Funky and foory aroma. Aggressive acidity, some cherries, dry overall. Aggressive, excessive, but you get what it promises.

A pour from the bottle on Black Christmas V. Pours a red-ish with no head. Aroma is cherries, soma nail polisher. Similar taste with hugh acidity. Meh.

Bottle poured into a taster showing cloudy and hazy watermelon/cherry red with white lacing. The nose beings with strong acetone/nail remover notes that cover most of the nose until decanted and burns off with a light cherry and watermelon jolly rancher nose. The palate is full bodied with light and smooth carbonation. Highly tart softened by the salt with a very light cherry and watermelon jolly rancher forwardness. Fruit flavors seem artificial and subdued to the strange acetone notes. One (possibly only) dG beer that has failed to impress me.

Poured from a 750 ml bottle. Aroma is fairly cherry forward with some light oak and faint herbal notes. Light wheat. Hints of lemon and yogurt as well. Pours a slightly hazy, rose color with red and orange hues and a medium large, thin, slightly pink head that immediately disappears. No lacing or legs. Flavor is fairly acidic with a light wheat note and a hint of sweetness from the cherries, but a very dry finish. Moderate cherry notes with a bit of cherry skin tannins. Medium light herbal and spice notes with a medium light salinity. Low bitterness with a hint of oak. Mouthfeel is light bodied with medium high carbonation. Moderate astringency, possibly form the tannins and very dry finish, and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a nice gose with a great cherry flavor. While the finish is dry and astringent, I think the salt helps cut it and it isn’t bad. Perhaps a touch too acidic, but not as bad as some of their beers.

Bottle thanks to Jeremy! Pours clear reddish orange, medium fizzy white head that quickly dissipates to nothing. Aroma is cherry, tart lemon, sea air, flavor is lightly tart, cherries present but not dominant, hints of salt on the finish. Lightish body, medium carbonation. Quite a different approach than that used for the Apricot Gose...

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours fairly hazy/cloudy reddish orange color with a 1 finger fairly dense light pink head with decent retention, that reduces to a ring of lace that lingers. Light spotty lacing on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big sour cherry, fruit skin, lemon, lime, green apple, red wine, coriander, sea salt, pepper, hay, straw, light funk/oak. and yeast earthiness. Fantastic aromas with awesome balance and complexity of cherries, fruity/acidic yeast, spice/salt, and wine barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of big sour cherry, fruit skin, lemon, lime, green apple, red wine, coriander, sea salt, pepper, hay, straw, light funk/oak, and yeast earthiness. Good amount of fruity/acidic tartness and yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of cherry, lemon, lime, green apple, red wine, coriander, sea salt, pepper, hay, straw, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of cherries, fruity/acidic yeast, salt/spice, and wine barrel flavors; with a great crisp tartness/spiciness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, acidic/tannic, and lightly saline mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic fruited Gose style. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of cherries, fruity/acidic yeast, salt/spice, and wine barrel flavors; and very smooth, crisp, and easy to drink even with the high amount of acidity. The saltiness of this gose was a lower than I expected, but still had solid presence overall. A highly enjoyable offering.

The beer is pink and clouded through. Small fizzy white head, fades to nothing pretty quickly. The aroma has a very nice balance of cherry and gose flavors. The cherry aroma is juicy and natural and has a nice mix of sweet and sour. There’s a medium lacto note, solid yogurty base. Mild oak. There’s a touch of cough syrup, but I think it’s just the blend of cherry and lacto sour flavors. Medium strength vinous note. Good dose of brine to the beer. Excellent aroma. The taste is a bit simpler. The cherry isn’t quite as juicy and full, but there’s still a nice oaky gose base to the beer. It’s refreshingly tart and easy to drink. Light bitterness from the oak, particularly in the finish. Not terribly yogurty but it’s there. Decent amount of salt. The barrel makes itself known a lot more than in the aroma. Carbonation is a bit fizzy. Feel has some roundness to it, though it’s pretty light. Enjoyable.

On tap at De Garde Quarterly. Pours a cloudy ruby pink with medium frothy off white head that lasts. The aroma is strong sea salt, mineral, and funk. Thin mouth, strong salt, light tartness, funky, very light on cherry, good.
