Dark black turning to dark ruby red against a strong backlight. 2cm persistent dark tan head. Nice nose on this, vanilla, chocolate, cream coffee. Body disappoints at first because the nose notes are not strongly present: none of the sweetness suggested. Once you get over that what remains is a good stout with coffee notes. Well balanced and present in all parts of the range. Nice lingering coffee and slight bitterness. Good

Bottle from the brewery shop. Aroma has coffee, cacao and sweet dark fruit with berries. Dark. Cola brown but barely opaque. Foamy beige head. Medium-heavy bitter. Espresso. Charcoal. Tangy berry edge, however the bitterness is what's prominent. Medium bodied. Oily. Average-fizzy carbonation. Long finish. A certain dryness to it. Enjoyable if not like superfantastic.

Old note. Draught. Looks almost black. Aroma: burnt, with hints of toast, hops and caramel. Taste: dry, bitter tones of roasted barley and malt, coffee beans, berry sourness and caramel. Aftertaste is quite dry, bitter from burnt and hops. Good brew.

Bottle from Morrisons. Pours black with a medium sized creamy beige head. Aromas of roasted malts, coffee and chocolate. Taste is again roasty with more coffee and chocolate and also a hint of liquorice. Light roasty bitter finish. Medium body and fairly smooth mouthfeel. Nice Stout.

500ml bottle. Pours very dark brown with a medium head. Aroma is dry, beefy roast. Taste is mostly dry roast with a little blackcurrant hop on the finish.
