Chipotle Smoked Porter. A surprisingly approachable smoked porter, velvet smooth with a robust malt backbone. This is infused with Chipotles to give even more smokiness and a subtle hint of heat, a real winter warmer.

Cask at the Cask, Pimlio - 14/05/12. Dark ruby-brown with a beige head. Dark malts, biscuit, wood and fairly subtle smoke on the nose. Taste follows on from the nose with a pinch of coffee and bitter chocolate. Medium bodied fairly smooth drinking with a little smoke in the aftertaste but subtle enough not to be anywhere near a palate wrecker !

Gravicask, half pint good amount, shared with Stefan & Elisabeth at Chorlton Beer Fest 2012. Mahogany coloured body covered by an off-white, bubbly head. Chocolate malts to the nose with a hint of smoke. Earthy malts and grassy hops in flavour added by a subdued smoky touch. More sweet than bitter to the finish. Good drinking, 06.07.2012.

A real mixed bag this one. Pours virtually black with no head or carbonation. Strong almost stout aroma with burnt malts and cocoa. Surprisingly refreshing taste, lasting after burns of smoke and burnt toast with dark chocolate. Bit on the thin side... don’t know what to make of this one. It’s good, but it could be so much better.

Cask@Reading Beer Festival 2012. Deep ambery brown colour with a small off-white head, that leaves some lace. Aroma is roasted malts, some coffee, chocolate and mild ashyness as well. Flavour is roasted malts, ashes, some slight ripe fruits along with a mild spicy burn. Also has some sweet malts and liquorice to it. Pleasant!

Cask @ The Caley, Edinburgh 150612
Black, rich thick tan head, good lacing.
Aroma - soft smoky roast malts, hint of spice
Taste - Soft roasted malts, sweet dark malts, some light sweet smoke, hint of sweet cured bacon, the smokiness is just enough for me - not overly done.
Palate - soft carb, medium body. Finish of soft sweet spicy roast and a bit of psychological chilli (!) - it could be there
Overall - Not a fan of really smoky beers - the smoked sweetness got a little clawing towards the end, but it was certainly a good beer

Cask at the Craft. Opaque black - brown beer. Little tan head. Light palate, semi dry and low carbonation. Starts with a trace of apple and pear followed by good toffee. Light red berry fruits. Mild smoke. FInishes semi dry and tangy. Quite a fruity smoked porter. The apple and pear taste like natural bi products rather than the beer being green. Very nicely done.

On tap @ the Caley Sample Room tap takeover. Pours a charcoal/black colour with a thin fawn head. The nose is biscuity, smokey and there is a liquorice note. There is more of the same on the taste. The palate has a medium body and a creamy texture with a clean but balanced finish. Overall, best beer I’ve tried from Redwillow.

Cask @ The Rake, London. Dark brown body with a nice, dense beige head. Pleasant aroma of smoked malt. Flavor is light roasted malt, smoke, coffee, bittersweet chocolate and moderate but pleasant bitterness. Fine body and a pleasant aftertaste of soft, smokes malt. A pleasant beer with a rich flavor and high drink ability at the same time.

Cask at the Euston Tap, London. Pours clear, red-brown with a tight beige foam. Tangy dark malt nose, some toast. Medium sweet flavor with lots of toasty malts, slight lacto sweetness, toasty sugars, tangy earth, faint smoke, dirt. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Medium sweet on the finish with toast, tangy earth, faint smoke. Seems a bit tangy, in an odd, earthy way. Some mild smoke lasts. This might not be optimal condition. (3.3)
Cask at the Reading Beer Festival 2012. Pours red-brown with a light, tan foam head. Good snout, nice smokey malts. Medium to big sweet flavor with ncie smoke and ham, light honey. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish, lightly sticky, with lasting honey-cured ham, restrained smoke, light roast. Very nice beer. Well rounded. Solid. (4.1)

On gravity at the Three Tuns, Bristol 29/04/2012. Near black with a decent, off-white head. Roast malt, dark fruit and chocolate aroma. Flavour had more chocolate, black coffee and a dry finish. Chipotles failed to register. Good.
