Cask at In de Wildeman, Amsterdam, listed at 6% ABV
Cloudy dark amber color with generous creamy head, persistent. Nice and mild aroma of cedar wood, spices, frankincense. Moderate carbonation, light caramel flavor, evident cedar wood and frankincense character; it doesn’t have the fruity touch of other cedar wood beer, it’s very pleasant; a different one, although it could get better with a citrusy touch.

Draught at Beer Temple. Hazy a bit murky brownish color, full sized off-white head. Smell malts, smoke and some paint. Taste malts, smoke and also paint. Weird and absolutely not my thing at all.

On tap @ In De Wildeman (as Freigeist Cedar Ale / 6% ABV). Color is brown, yeasty. Nice off white head with retention & good lace. Aroma’s: from the glass lightly sweet & smoky, but the real aroma’s come retronasal: tobacco, iodine, smoke, a little acidity. Flavor is medium bitter with wood. Light bodied. Finishes dry, smoky & bitter. Really something else.
