2006 vintage.
aroma is of raisins and plums, very nice and fruity, lots of sweetness. Flavor is a bit of a let down. Very malty, and the sweetness fades out, and looses itself. I prefered the 2005 much better, it was quite hoppy, and the sweetness was always there throughout. Nice packaging, but a little pricey at $10.

From old tasting notes. Deep copper, red color. Thick creamy beige head. Soft toasted malt nose. Smooth, malty, full-bodied and flavorful. Nicely balanced with a crisp, dry hop finish. Very good.

Bottle at tasting at JTClockwork’s 3rd eisbock of the day which is enough to lure me away from Manhattan. kind of ugly pour orangey brownish. nose is sweet fruits and bread. tastes bready, apple, caramel, grapefruit, brown sugar, wood. not all that boozy for style. yippee 15 eisbocks!

2004 edition (originally rated June 2005) - comes in a green wine bottle, but no cork, just a bottlecap. This Canadian Ice-bock pours an amber-red colour with lively tiny-bubble carbonation. The off-white head is creamy, and as it dissipates slowly, a thin layer coats the brew. The nose is roasted malts and apples. Nice creamy mouthfeel, very smooth. Taste the caramel is it is going down with the roasted malts. Good bitterness in the finish, with apple in the aftertaste. Beautiful lacing left as the brew goes down... and it goes down easy. I would try this anytime... as long as I am not driving.

Bouteille 750ml - 2006 (LCBO).

(Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of Sammy. Clear, amber golden with a small, off-white head. Sweetish, lightly caramelish nose. Full body, soft mouthfeel with sweetish notes of caramel and a little alcohol. Sweetish finish. Clean and decent and I don’t get any of the vegetable notes of former raters, it’s just a bit bland and doesn’t really kick ass. 160607

Bottle: Poured a medium burgundy color beer with a nice medium foamy light brown head with better then average retention. Aroma of sweet dry fruits such as plums and figs. Taste is also dominated by dry fruits such as figs and plums with a nice a generous malt presence and some subtle warming alcohol. Body is slightly thin for the style with some good carbonation. While this is a good example of a style that I see too rarely it is slightly less complex then the top beer of the style.
