CORNET is an oaked, strong, blond Belgian beer (Alc. 8.5% Vol.). Its subtle touch of vanilla is achieved by adding oak chips during brewing. Brewed in honour of Salomon de Maldeghem, Knight in the 11th century.

Botella 33 cl en bar Brugge 09..09.. 2017. Sin lote ni fdcpref legibles. (r263). Color amarillento turbio con espuma blanca persistente fina. Sabores frescos con toques herbáceos y cítricos algo especiados. Suave dulzor y sensación alcohólica seca desde el principio. Cuerpo ligero a medio algo espumoso. Buena.

This is the closest I’ve gotten to a wooden aged blanc de blancs in the beer world so far, I must say. This oak-chipped ale pours bright golden, somewhat hazy, with a super-rocky-and-ever-lasting-ivory-hued head. Aroma is like many chardonnays out there, particularly when they’ve been aged in oak barrels: white flowers, toast, butter, walnuts, vanilla, smoky. Taste is powerful yet fresh, bitterish, long-lasting finish. Not bad at all, but a little artificial.

Clear golden beer with two finger tall white head. Average lacing. Aroma: corny malts, fairly spicy yeast, interesting esters of honey melon profile. Medium body. Lively carbonation. Medium sweet taste. Corn, yeast, lovely melon again. Warming alco. Light bitter finish. Well done even if not elite division.

Bottle from Dranken Vandewoude and drunk at home. Clear gold lasting cream head. Yes oak character and too much oak for my delicate palate some orange fruit in there. Quite smooth in the mouth. The sharp tangerine flavour is attractive. Just tone down the oak a bit and it would be fine. Ok.

Bottle shared at Chriso’s post GBBF minidig, 16/08/14. Thanks. A hazed golden coloured pour with no head. . Aroma is decent floral notes, peach and pineapple. Flavour is composed of like oak, brown sugars, vanilla, light berry. Palate is dull, medium sweet, low carbonation. Meh.
