The base of this beer is Ongelovige Thomas. New American white oak soaked in Kenau has been added, which makes the beer much stronger and gives it a hint of vanilla. Because the wood is soaked in Kenau, the beer is named Jopen Thomas en Kenau.
Full-bodied flavour with vanilla, whiskey, oak, some roasted hints of chocolate and plenty of fruit (blackberries and brambles) because of the American hops varieties. Dominant smooth and fruity flavour the result of the new American white oak.

Dark brown with nice head, aroma is of lightly burnt malts and belgian yeast which makes a kind of warm or burnt banana notes but quiet intensive are oak notes, so actually You have a very nic quadrupel-like aroma with intensive wooden notes. The taste follows the aroma, it is quiet sweet like a beer of this stye but with quiet distinguishable wooden notes, there is some bitterness, alcohol is very well hidden and the body is quiet full (maybe because of the sweetness but still..). Very nice variation of the style, and very nice interpretation of the style. Actually in my opinion much better than many classic quadrupel’s, e.g. St. Bernardus Abt. 12.

Very sweet, but not cloying. Loads of vanilla, but not overpowering. So extremely soft and mellow. Great drink.

0.33 l bottle from ’De Bierkoning’, bottled in June 2015. Clear, dark red with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, tan head. Sweetish-malty, slightly fruity aroma of caramel, some molasses, raisins, prunes, figs and some port. Sweetish-malty, slightly fruity taste of caramel, molasses, raisins, prunes, brown sugar and some port, followed by a long, warming, boozy, moderately bitter finish. Medium to full body, oily mouthfeel, average carbonation. Decent beer, but not very complex and at the same time too bozy.

Bottle from trade with Douberd, many thanks! Pours dark, reddish brown with beige head. A little boozy aroma with vanilla, oak and dates. Also slightly boozy taste with caramel, oak, vanilla, dates and arrack. Full bodied and yummy, with a long syrupy finish. Bit heavy though.
