The base of this beer is Ongelovige Thomas. New American white oak soaked in Kenau has been added, which makes the beer much stronger and gives it a hint of vanilla. Because the wood is soaked in Kenau, the beer is named Jopen Thomas en Kenau.
Full-bodied flavour with vanilla, whiskey, oak, some roasted hints of chocolate and plenty of fruit (blackberries and brambles) because of the American hops varieties. Dominant smooth and fruity flavour the result of the new American white oak.

75 cl bottle @ home, bottles April 2012 (bottle 356 of 850). Very dark (but not quite black) color. Beige head, disappearing altogether rather quickly. Aroma: berries, alcohol, a bit roasted, bit sweet. Retronasal it’s more toffee, light alcohol, light fruity sourness. Flavor is light sweet, alcoholic, fruity/berries. Medium bodied. Rather low carbonation. Lingering finish, but no new flavor. Nice, but maybe I should have had this a bit youner.
