375mL 2007 bouteille a Akkurat, 11/28/16.
Clear, bright, light-golden, which is always a relief to see in older lambics, signifying little/no oxidation. White head atop recedes quickly to cover.
Horseblanket shows forth nicely, with minimal green apple for a Boon lambic. Light honey and soft lactic character join with the brett to give a very strong nose, free from any saccharine or oxidation or brewing flaw. No alcohol, seemingly well-attenuated.
In the mouth it’s full of bright brett, earthy, musty elements to counterbalance with soft hay, red apple, very light lactic acidity and substantial, but well-attenuated maltiness. Fruitier and fruitier as it warms and breathes with light acetic character emerging and a piquant sourness lingering fairly pleasantly, on the finish. Low but tight carbonation.

Gott

Bottled 375ml. -at the MBR Sour Beer tasting. Darker golden coloured, small white head, sourish nose. Distinct sourness, slightly sweet apple and lemon with touch of hay in the finish. Not bad at all.

At the MBR Sour Beer tasting. Thanks to whoever brought it! Misty golden body. Genuine, funky aroma, hay, sweetish going dry. Lemony/citric sourness, light bitterness, light tartness, dry, good carbonation. OK all in all, nothing much to say apart from the fact that it’s good!

The present-day version of a traditional geuze from a geuzestekerij in Dworp which ceased activities in 1977 as one of the many victims of the then waning popularity of traditional lambics; has, since then, been taken over by first (in the nineties) De Neve and now by Boon. Thick, frothy, rocky, off-white, stable head, hazy orange blonde robe with peachy hue. Aroma of unripe green plum, gooseberry, lime zest, wet wood, dust, old bread, stale sweat, crabappe, hay. Crisp, sour fruitiness, lots of unripe stonefruit and green apple, dry with spritzy carbonation, lime-like sourness but not puckering acidic, even a light sweetish peachy touch; bready middle with a somewhat grainy edge underlying the esters and lactic, yoghurty sourness, dry finish, still very fruity in the sour sense of the word, woody touch. Has evident traditional lambic complexity but in a somewhat restrained, softish way, clearly a ’malse’ geuze. As with the Moriau, also continued by Boon, I am unable to judge to which extent this captures the personality and flavor of the original, so a comparison with an authentic vintage bottle from the sixties or seventies would be interesting - provided any have survived till this day at all...

375 ml bottle. Much better than expected. The beer is a somewhat dusky gold. Moderate amount of haze is visible. Small to medium white head, fizzles away within a couple minutes. This is a pretty fresh bottle, but the beer smells more like the older vintage gueuze that I’ve tried. Lots of earthy funk with an undercurrent of pale malt sweetness. Solid mineral note. Light candied lemon citrus tang in there. Light but complex sour flavor. Taste is moderately sour. Lots of funk and mineral flavor. Nice and dry. Nice level of astringency. Very enjoyable.

Bottle split at home, 21/11/15. Lightly hazed golden with a decent off white covering. Nose is funky, wood must, lemon rind, pissy citrics, stagnant pond. Taste comprises earthy straw, apple core, lemon rind, balsa wood, light acidic rise, funk, barnyard. Medium bodied, spritzy carbonation, drying close. Adequate gueuze.

37.5 cl bottle @ Malminkartano. BBE 06.10.2031. Aroma has earthy tones, grapefruit and some orange. Flavour has grapefruit, earthy tones and orange. A bit more sweet and less aggressive than gueuzes usually.
