Caramel, roasted, black and chocolate malts provide an explosion of coffee like flavors.

The strong espresso character comes from the addition of espresso beans to the boil.

Notes of vanilla, dark fruit , cocao and chocolate.

The very unusual character of Hitachino Nest Espresso Stout stems from the fact that Kiuchi Brewery is using the recipe of a Russian Imperial Stout as base.

Pitch black color, big brown head. Aromas of chocolate, roasted bitterness, black currants, dark fruits.

Hop: Chinook, Kent Golding

Malt: Pale, Crystal, Black, Chocolate
Others: Roasted Barley, Coffee beans
SRM: 100

Bottle at Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a dark mahogany with a long lasting frothy tan head and bags of lace. The aroma is dry and peaty with lots of malt. The flavour is rich and bitter with bags of liqourice and roasted coffee. It’s rather hoppy too and a little fruity and spicy on the palate. It’s quite a departure from a standard Espresso Stout and very refreshing and drinkable.

Refrigerated 11.2 oz. brown bottle poured into a shaker. Pours black with medium dark brown hightlights with medium light brown head. Some thin small bubble lacing, medium body, medium/light carbonation, and light dark chocolate aroma. Taste is dark chocolate, espresso, herbal hops, some salt, hint of vanilla, and bitter hop finish. Pretty good.

Tap at Gingerman, pours jet black and looks and smells delicious. And luckily it tastes delicious as well. Tastes of dark fruits, coffee, chocolate, vanilla, earth, light soy sauce, and toast. Yum

Fra flaske på Cardinaltreff i 2008 (?), fritt etter hukommelsen: en strålende smaksopplevelse som virkelig fikk meg til å tenne på mørke øl med kaffe. Myk og fyldig, nesten som mørk sjokolademousse. Mmmmmersmak!

Bottle purchased from Mondo Vino, Denver and drank in hotel room (03/06/12) whilst waiting for the other half to get ready ! Black to very dark brown in colouration with a dirty finger of brown head. Coffee hits the nose allied to a small pinch of chocolate bitterness and a whiff of smoke, maybe a little sour whiff? In tasting I get a bitter chocolate hit first, then coffee to the finish. Sweet in taste but bitters out to a drier finish. Mouthfeel spot on and carbonation fairly low. Would revisit this one!

12oz bottle poured into an English Pint. Pours black with a ring of dark tan head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is strongly coffee with a good bit of dark chocolate and some dark fermented fruits. Taste is light bitter. Coffee with chocolate and dark fruits. Medium bodied with a creamy yet somewhat thin texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Overall, not bad. I would gladly drink this again.

Bottle at BrewDog Camden. It pours jet black, with a thick tan head. The nose is rich espresso coffee, roasted malt, caramel, molasses, burnt sugar and lactose. The taste is salted caramel, espresso, roasted malt, dark fruit (prune, date, blackcurrant...), toffee and lactose, with a long dry-roasted finish. Medium-full body and moderate carbonation. Great coffee character. A tasty beer.
