Our second collaboration with Brasserie St-Feuillien, Friendship Brew, is a Black Saison that blends European and American hops, Belgian yeast and a cache of secret spices. The aroma and flavors are enticing, with delicate fruitiness, subtle spice and rounded roast malt characteristics. Bottle conditioning provides lively carbonation and rich beer foam for a luscious body and a lean, dry finish.

Bottle - Roast malts, spices, grass, lemon zest and yeast. Almost like root-beer. Jet black with a big brown head. Medicinal and lemon zest with a touch of bitterness. Not good.

Unique and special brew. It really tastes like a mixture of different styles. It is hoppy, roasty, grassy, fruity and a little spicy. Nice.

22 oz. bottle, pours a deep dark brown / black with a large foamy beige head. Aroma of licorice, roasted malt, leather, and some earthy notes. Flavour is very muffled, with leather, very dirty earth, licorice, and more dirt. Not sure what the hell this was aiming to be, but it's very dirty and earthy in a bad way. Not pleasant. This is a big miss.

650 ml bottle. Pours a dark brown with medium to full head. Interesting, the aromas and flavors differ from the same offering from St Feuillien in Europe Aromas of licorice, ginger, and citrus. Flavors are spices - predominately ginger and licorice plus a citrus sour and malt base. Is this a different brew than the European? - it certainly is not as good.

Bottled @ Drie Dorstige Herten, large sample. Dark color, medium brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, licorice, medium spicy. Mainly licorice in the aroma actually, but the balance with the spices is pretty good, even when Iβm not a big licorice fan. Bit sweet in taste, quite dry, soft bitterness. All the separate elements didnβt make me expect a lot, but it turned out a wonderful brew with great balance. Lovely!
