Dark caramel copper pour not much of a head. Aroma is thick caramel and toffee, some oxidised stale malt. and honey. Sticky palate sweet. This one hasn’t lasted very very.

Bottle pours with a murky light brown body that supports a tan head. The aroma offers up some sweet malts, chili pepper notes and more sugary malt sweetness. The taste has sugary malts, brown sugar, candi sugar and then a thin layer of chili pepper meat rolling into more and more boozy heat. This comes across pretty odd as the notes aren’t melding all that well. And this actually doesn’t have chili peppers added? Fun beer to try though.

Bottle, # 7662. Pours dark golden with a small head. Aroma is caramel malts with some alcohol, as well as grain and heather. Creamy body with soft carbonation. Flavour is sweet with roasted malts, toffee, grain and kandi, as well as a nice fruitiness with apricot and orange peel sticking through the finish.

Bottle split at the Pig’s Ear Cellar, Richmond, 29/06/13. #3338/7902. Hazed dark amber with no head. Nose is dark toffee, light booze, earthy, woody notes, dark fruit. Taste comprises dark fruits, touch of chocolate, rich toffee, booze, light liqourice, does of honey, brown sugars. Full bodied, fine carbonation, slightly viscous boozey finale but smooth and drinkable with it. Solid work.

375mL bottle, pours a hazy amber with a tiny ring of beige head. Aroma of liqueur upfront, with caramel and some treacly dark fruits. Flavour is quite sweet but very complex, with liqueur, caramel, and a little chocolate. Sweet, but not cloying. Lots of complexity, with a lingering finish of toffee and liqueur. Great stuff.

375 ml corked (plastic cork, nearly impossible to open) green bottle, bought from Vinmonopolet (Nettbutikken) May/June 2012. Bottled on 06.12.11, bottle No. 5665 of 7902 ABV is 11.8%. Beautiful reddish brown colour, low off-white head. Strong oxidised aroma of malts, oak and fusel alcohols, hints of dried figs. Minimal carbonation in the mouth. The flavour is very oaky and oxidised, not very sweet, with moderate hops. Not worth the high price.

Really interesting experiment - they’ve managed to get the chocolate and liquorice aroma in, but the coffee is not quite there for me. Some sherry notes. Golden yellow in the glass, no lasting head to speak of. Sherry again in the taste, and marmalade. Neither a blonde nor a stout, but worth trying.

Clear deep gold beer, tidy white head. Smooth palate, quite light. Rich marmalade hops that are nicely balanced with coffee and a touch of vanilla. Finishes smooth with minor aniseed alcohol. Marmalade hop aftertaste. Doesn’t work at all as a Stout - nice try. Does work well in it’s own right - came over as an Imperial Coffee Golden to me! Hides the alcohol quite well and very drinkable.

Abstrakt 01 - 25 Vertical @ Brewdog Sheps Bush. Almost clear deep brown - amber beer, a few pale tan bubbles. Caramelized dark malts. Tangy sherry covered ripe fruits. Bruised cherry. Little tangy whiskey on the finish. Aged but still tasty, think this one might keep going for many years yet. 3.5

375 ml bottle thanks to Andrew and Santa. Pours a cloudy copper color with a small white head. A sweet big caramel and oxidized nose. A mellow flavor of light fruity hops, caramel, dusty, light wood. Much of a older American Barley Wine. The packaging is awesome, but nothing too unusual about the product. A nice brew overall. Clean and no heat. It’s not going to get better.
