Weak roasted malt aroma with vanilla hints. Clear brown, medium head. Dry earthy flavor, light bark present, with a dirty finish. With a bit moe intensity, this could be a fine beer.

Very dark brown, barely admits light. Thick and creamy beige head that settles slowly to reveal wonderful and persistent lacing. Roasted coffee, nuts and vanilla with bitter cocoa. Begins with black coffee then peanuts and pine, then finishes with creamy milk chocolate and a slight bitter edge. Nice enough body, slightly less than its Reserve brother. An amazing and desirable brew. Find it now.

Bottle: Very deep ruby-amber coloured, small persistent tanned head; fruity aromas, coffee and chocolate in the nose; moderate to solid bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied, soft MF; increasing dryness in the lingering roast-malty and bitter-chocolatey finish. A fine winter-warmer..........

(bottle) Clear, mahogany colour with a beige dense and medium-sized foamy head. Sweet roast-malty aroma with notes of dark chocolate, caramel and peat, accompanied by a fruity and vinous Sherry-like notes. Moderately sweet and slightly bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel. Toasty and peaty malty taste with notes of chocolate and a light vinous fruit-character; dry and slightly fruity Sherry-like finish. Very likeable. 06.XI.09

Pitch black with a red tint. Tall, creamy head. Rich malt aroma, slightly roasted, a bit sweet. Rich malt flavor as well, with a decent roasted character. Just a bit sweet. Smooth, creamy, mild taste. Smooth as silk, well balanced, subtle tasting and malty. --- Beer merged from original tick of Dark Island (Cask) on 20 Mar 2010 at 19:13 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 7. Original review text: Cask at the World’s End, Edinburgh. Very malty aroma with chocolate, coffee, and caramel. Decently roasted flavor—slightly sour—with chocolate, caramel and a rich, dry, finish. A bit too sour (old?), but nice stuff.

Bottled(500ml). -Dark brown (almost black) coloured, small cappuccino head, chocolate fruity nose. Roasted coffee, chocolate and dark fruits taste with notes of licorice and smoke and tobacco. Smooth and easy drinkable, very good beer but to be honest something is missing.
