Bottle froma friend, many thanks. Dark amber color with small off-white ehad. Aroma of caramel, nuts, dark chocolate, spicy phenol, fruity esters. Taste is complex with caramel, . fruity esters, spicy phenols, Belgian yeast, honey, dark chocolate, malt, light honey. Good.

0.33 l bottle from 'Trinkgut Knödgen' as 'Grimbergen Double Ambrée', best before November 2024. Clear, dark ruby with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, gently yeasty-spicy and slightly fruity aroma of caramel, marzipan, honey, raisins, coconut, some overripe banana and a touch of chocolate. Quite sweet, malty, moderately bitter, gently yeasty-spicy and slightly fruity taste of caramel, chocolate, coconut, marzipan, overripe banana and raisins, followed by a short, gently bitter finish. Medium to full body, smooth and gently effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Decent ale, quite tasty actually. Have had it before but never got to rate it, was probably about nine to ten years ago.

Bottle, right at its drink-by date. Malty nose, caramel, dark chocolate, nuts, toast. Nicely rich. Light yeasty spiciness too. Slightly hazy dark brown with a lacy head. Age is showing in the low head. Lighter than expected from the nose, chocolate and caramel, nutty, slightly earthy. Rather thin body makes it lack richness but easy to drink. Slightly fruity, grape finish but not exactly brandy-like imo. Not bad for an industrial dubbel, but not great.

Bottle from Carrefour, De Brouckère, Brussels on 11th February 2023. Pours reddish brown with pale tan foam and full lacing. Rich malty aroma. Tangy fruits and nuttiness in-mouth, with a nutty caramel malt finish. Full bodied with an engaging texture.
