An exotic beer with the refreshing taste of coconut. Mongozo Buckwheat White forms the basis for this beer.

Served in a half coconut, nice. Pours hazy yellow with a small diminishing white head. The aroma of coconuts is very strong - next to that some almond. It tastes medium to heavy sweet. Light body, very watery in texture, soft carbonation. Very unlike a beer, but a good try nonetheless.

Bottle at Beerbohm Lichfield; not sure what colour the pour was because it was served in half a coconut however the head was creamy white a quite frothy, the aroma has massive coconut milk, taste is the same creamy coconut milk, I like coconut so this beer worked for me.

Bottle from East Anglia Wine Merchants. Pours cloudy white - just how I imagined (feared?) a coconut beer would look. It’s incredibly lively, causing some spillage upon opening, but it settled down soon enough. Lemon, plastic, fabric softener and a bit of urine on the nose. Having said this, the taste isn’t so bad. Sweet and fruity with the promised tinge of coconut milk. Silky carbonated finish. Only slightly better than expected.

Bottle at Great Expectations, Reading. I’d previously suffered the grotesque travesty that is Floris Chocolat, and have since then been reluctant to expose myself to any more dodgy "flavoured" Belgian beers. However a friend of mine asked if I would share her bottle as she didn’t want a whole one, and it seemed pointless turning down a free rate. First signs weren’t good though- the bottle design looked cheap and nasty, whilst the beer inside was a cloudy blonde in hue with a meagre soap-sud head. They’re not marketing this one on looks! It smelled, unsurprisingly, of coconut. But I rather like coconut, and unlike many fruit beers it didn’t smell too fake. To my further surprise, on tasting it the initial flavour was of real fresh coconut flesh rather than some ghastly artificial syrup. Behind this there was some pineapple, giving both some juicy sweetness and a little sharpness to balance. The whole drink had the feeling of a pina colada about it (albeit one tilted more towards the coconut than the pineapple) - it certainly doesn’t look, smell or taste like a beer. And though it is sweet it’s also quite refreshing- it’s not like an alcopop either. I’m not sure I’d want a whole bottle, but I rather enjoyed the half bottle I had. A slightly guilty pleasure maybe, but a pleasure nevertheless. Maybe I will give some more flavoured Belgian beers a go after all...

0,33l from bottle at Känguruh shared by gf. BB 07/2017. Served in what seems to be a fake/plastic coconut. Small white head. Smells of coconut, chalk, metallic, kinda weird smell. Light body, soft carbonation, quite full mouthfeel. Tastes light coconut, marzipan, sweetness, parfume, artificial. Finishes with parfume and artificial taste. Not a fan 6, 3, 4, 3, 9

330ml bottle. Pours hazy straw yellow like a Belgian wit. Aroma is cinnamon, coconut shampoo. Taste is sweet coconut. A bit weird and doesn’t go down very well, but better than their awful mango beer.

Troebel lichgeel bier met veel schuim. Smak is zoet, kokos overheerst. Verder een wat vreemde bijsmaak mogelijk van de quinoa. Al met al best aardig.
