A speciality old ale that speaks for itself. Pronounced chocolate flavours and a pleasant orange addition combine perfectly in this delightfully different offering.

Cask gravity at Reading BF 09. Not really expecting to like this, but it’s good. Very deep chestnut colour/mahogany, lasting beige head. Smells like an orange kitkat. Bit of wafer. It is rather chocolatey in the mouth, actually it’s very nice and grew on me after the initial hit of intensity. Bit of spice on swallow. Nice.

Cask at Reading beerfest. Copper coloured beer with beige head. It tastes like Terrys chocolate orange, surprise surprise. My wife would enjoy this one. Quite pleasant.

(Cask at Angleterre, Helsinki, on 2009-01-09) Dark reddish brown. Clear. Medium sized dense little bit tan coloured head. Chocolate and fruitiness in nose. Full bodied and dryish palate with very little carbonation. Lot of chocolate, dark chocolate like bitterness, fruitiness, hop bitterness and little bit roastedness in taste. Long lasting aftertaste with bitter chocolate flavour.

Cask. Rubyish amber colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is chocolate, zest, nectar, some sour wood and bittery fruityness. Flavour is chocolate, fruityness, wood and some grassyness lurking the the background. Aftertaste is chocolate, grassyness and some dry, sour fruits.

(Cask at Priory Arms, Stockwell, London, 30 Nov 2007) Dark brown colour with ruby notes, frothy beige head. Roasted, malty nose with distinct notes of chocolate. Roasted, malty taste with chocolate, orange peel and hints of coffee bitterness in the finish. On the sweet side. Interesting and quite nice.

Cask-conditioned at the Royal Oak, Bath 11/12/07. Dark brown and opaque with a decent tan head. Aroma of chocolate malt and orange peel. Flavour was sweet with cocoa powder and more peel. Full mouth feel. Good.
