Cask at CBI on 20th February 2013. Dark copper with thin tan film and lacing bands. Pungent deep earthy aroma with strong sherry alcohols. Rich festive berries, alcohol andnuttiness in-mouth with Christmas puydding, figs and citrus. Some bitterness in finish with fruitiness and festive flavours continuing. Light body and mouthfeel.

Cask at Craft Islington, 21/02/13. Hazed mahogony brown with a medium tan head that retains well. Nose is dark malt, dark fruits, raisens, light spice, cardboard. Taste comprises dark malts, dark fruits, papery, biscuit. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, dry in the finish. Pretty average fayre - seems to hold as many ESB like qualities as it does porter - bit of a mish mash, not one to return to.

Cask at the Cask Pub and kitchen. Dark caramel red in colour. Thick magnolia head. Soft roast aroma. Flavour is mostly fusel alcohols / nail polish remover green apple. Very hard to stomach. Pretty bad.

Cask at the Birmingham beer festival 2012. Dark brown clear pour with a broken white frothy head. Very malty aroma with hints of fruit. Big rich but smooth malty flavour with some sour liqourice on the palate. A very different ale that deserves a top rating.
