Draft sample @ ZBF’13 shared with the RB Belgian crew.

Draught Small head with lace, copper-brown beer. Monbazillac, noble rot, small ripe winegrapes, portwine, alcohol and fusels making a superb nose. Bit lower in surprises in the mouth, bit syrupy-sweet, obviously aged. Bananas, baba au rhum. Very sticky, slick, well-bodied, alcoholheat. The sweet syrupiness is a bit too heavy to convey deep complexity, the nose OTOH is a marvel.

Sampled draft @ ZBF 2013. Creamy, hazy amber goodness with a thick creamy white head. Nose is very thick, almost jam like, caramel, toffee, crystallized brown sugar, barley wine ooze, with very sweet jam-like white wine (Monbazillac I assume), thick white grapes and fruits jam,… Taste is similar, barley wine goo consistent over very, thick jam, sweet toffee, caramel, crystallized brown sugar, some barrel, white flowers, fruits, white grapes, jam and the very, very sweet white wine, sweetness, overrides booze, still some comes though, very thick and sticky,… I have not been always super exited about the old Alvinne stuff but new stuff like this is absolutely stellar.

27/IV/13 - on tap @ Zythos Bierfestival (2013-415) Thanks to the Belgian ratebeer crew for sharing our beers today!

Clear amber beer, creamy light beige head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: pretty sweet, caramel, alcohol, bit boozy, overripe banana and plums, raisins. MF: soft carbon, full body, creamy smooth texture. Taste: some caramel, ripe banana, bitter, nutty, bit sweet, dried figs, little citrus. Aftertaste: bitter, lots of ripe banana, little sugary, sweet, hoppy bitter touch. Really like this one!
