Tap at the Essen OBER Kerstbierfestival 2013. Poured a deep dark amber with a frothy tan head. The aroma is citrus vinegar sour. The flavour is medium to sour light sweet with an acid liqourice palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. I kinda liked this but I’m not sure why!

Draft sample at Essen Kerstbierfestival. Pours dark brown with a beige head. Aroma of barnyard funk and bretty horse blanket stuff. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet, lots of red fruits coming out and showing the vinous aspects. Full bodied with soft carbonation.

Strong woody wine aroma. tart and even a bit acidic. Lots of dryness from the wood. In the background there’s some dark roasted malt but it seems a bit out of balance.

Draft sample @ Kerstbierfestival Essen 2013. Spend 6 months in the barrels. Blackish dark brown with a tanned head. Nose is slightly metallic, vinous, sugary & sweet red wine, light barrel, caramel malts. Vinous taste, sticky caramel malts, sugary red wine, slightly lactic, touch iron, roasted malts & oak in the back, touch bitter herbs. Near flat & oily, not bad, not stellar either. Nice effort & brew never the less.

bottle with many - i cannot say this enough - thnx to filip ( one of the brewers) who was nice enough to bring me the first bottle that came out of the heating room / even the brewers themselves had not tried the bottled edition yet ! barrel aged for 8 months ; as i understood most part on bordeaux en a smaller part on fresh oak, then blended . pours dark, murky brown with a small white foam , that fades fast smell is very oaky ; bordeaux comes rough pretty nicely low carbo, rather bitter, going to sweetness ( from the barrel ) barrel shines trough pretty much, on the border of too much, but still in the good zone . curious what this will be when it has rested a bit more ..
