Bottle. Dark brown color. Vinous notes, vanilla and raisin in the aroma. Thinnish, vinous, alcoholic flavor. Oak, vanilla and raisin. Sweet, but enough complexity, only somewhat lacking in balance.

33cl bottle, reads oak aged in red on label. No date. Pours near black with a huge light brown head, gusher! Strong anise, fennel aroma, ripe berries, oak, mild tartness alongside brown sugary sweetness. Flavor has sour red berries, (like lingonberries) , oak, tartness, licorice. Dry finish. Alcohol warmth. I so like the sour berry thing here. Hides the sweetness nicely. Very different from the original version. Oud bruinish.

330ml bottle, many thanks to JefVerstraete! Pours black / extremely dark brown with a bountiful foamy tan head. Aroma is slightly herbal and a touch sugary. Taste is espresso, plums, chocolate, raw liquorice, sugary marzipan and a noticeable vinous sour influence. Overly high carbonation. In all, taste seems a bit disjointed but not bad.

33cl Bottle from douberd, thanks Christos! I guess it’s this version. Almost black colour, huge beige head. Aroma of an infection, quite tart, berries, red fruits, vinous, red wine, wood, spicy yeast, some liqourice, acid. Flavour is sour, acidic, wood, light spicy, roasted malts, some liquorice, stale red wine, wood, tart-bitter finish. Medium-bodied, over-carbonated. Gets better when it warms up, but it’s heavily infected imho.

New Beer Distributors, NYC 11.2 ounce ($4): Pours a pretty dark brown with a light brown head. Aroma is wood, fruit, that smell that you get in sour and wild ales, which I am assuming is from the wine. Mouthfeel is very carbonated and that in a sense dominates how one experiences this beer. You get nice bursts of tartness and an underlying sugar. Nice puckering aftertaste. This was surprisingly tasty. I am a fan. One could barely tell this was a quad.

28/I/14 - 33cl bottle from Bierhalle Deconinck (Vichte) @ home - BB: n/a (2014-128) Thanks to Bene for doing the shopping!

Clear dark brown beer, irregular beige head, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: sourish, funky, reminds met of geuze, also some red wine, bit sweet, caramel, sour apples. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty sour start, notes of red win, tannins, bit lemony, vinegar, geuze like flavours, bit hoppy, some mocha. Aftertaste: bitter tannins, hops, red wine, pretty sour, lots of geuze characteristics, sourish infected stuff, wood tannins, mocha, some dried fruits, but the sourness is overpowering most other flavours. I'd say the barrel ageing did no good to the beer...
