Straffe Hendrik Heritage is a special variety of the Straffe Hendrik Quadrupel, as it a one year oak barrel aged beer. The beer is brewed in autum and is only available in a limited edition.
The taste and fragrance of the beer are very complex and evolve through the years.
The tannin from the barrels blends exquisitely with the special malts in the beer.
The combination of the spiciness and bitterness of the quadrupel with the subtle taste of wine and wood from the barrels is inimitable. Licorice and dark fruits like raisins, prunes and figs can also be discovered.
With age the beer will develop a hint of porto as well. Note: Cognac and/or Burgundy Barrels.

Bottle no. 01099, 0.75l. At De Halve Maan bought 14.7.2015, drunk today. Hmm, it was so nice BENELUX trip...
Cloudy, copper colored. AROMA- nice aged character, winous, lots of forest berries, strawberry, raisins. FLAVOR- moderately sweet, light wine-like sourness, lightly bitter, very well hidden alcohol, raspberry, strawberry, dark grapes, cherry. Full bodied.

Aroma of sweet malt, toffee, ripe dark fruit, raisins, vanilla, hint of oak, booze, touch of bourbon? Flavour is sweet with a sweet and slightly boozy finish. Pretty good.

Fles 10196 en fles 15270 gedeeld met LiekevdV, Inoven, Keukeman, Roelzie en Benzai. Het is een diep donkerbruin bier met een dun schuim. Het heeft een aroma van gedroogd fruit en iets wijn achtigs. De smaak is fruitig en fris zuur.

Vintage 2014. Bottle #37801 picked up from the brewery, at home, 23rd December 23. Pours a dark mahogany colour. Aroma is dark fruits, caramel, prunes, barrel, vanilla, wood. Taste is smooth, barrel, dark fruits, wood and oak, the age is in it, and it’s smooth, liquor, Sherry, light brandy. Lovely drink

Vintage 2014. Bottle no: 8383. Aged to ten years or more. I think in this vintage it was Burgundy Barrels. Co za zapach winny, balsamiczny grona, powidla, czarna porzeczka. mega intensywne. Dymi sie po odkorkowaniu niczym zrujnowane miasta Ukrainy. Wspanaily rowniez wyglad, piana spora lecz srednio trwala, bordowo-ciemno brazowa barwa, Finisz zdecydowany, porzeczkowy, sliwkowy, wytrawny, mega taniczny, mozna miec niezly dylemat co otworzyc do srednio wypieczonej wolowiny czy to wlasnie piwo czy najlepsze burgundzkie wytrawne czerwone wino.

Backlog April 2018. Well stored bottle 2014 edition. Slightly unclear deep amber body under a big, dense tan head. Nice aroma of dry fruit and caramel. Taste is super smooth sweet caramel malt, dry fruit, chocolate, mild wood and herbs. Fine body and long lasting aftertaste. Very nice and tasty.

Shared with guys at BAT 6/2021. Very complex, very rich. Medium body, med-high carbonation. Med-high sweetness, balanced by med-light alcoholic warmth. Loads of chocolate, toffee, molasses, herbal, light woody, dark fruits, dried fruits. Lots of stuff going on. Very well balanced, relatively easy drinking if that is even possible at 11% ABV. Great delicious beer.
