Pale blond and clear with lasting head. Aroma and flavour are light and malty. Very clean and easy to drink. Only a very light floral, herbal note in the finish.

1 March 2020. At Brouwbar, Ghent; shared with Anke. Clear golden, lasting, thin, foamy, white head. Aroma of yellow apple, pear, apricot, citrus, woodruff, breadcrust, yeast, vague cheese. Taste has sweetish apple & pear, citrus accent & solid bready maltiness; bit bitter spices & grass with flowery woodruff somewhere. Dry, grassy & earthy hoppy finish, lingering yellow fruit & herbs. Medium body, slick texture, fizzy carbonation. Reminds me of De Ryck's Steenuilke, but this 'collab' brew is better hopped for sure. Apart from that, nothing revolutionary and appealing to the general public's taste.

Average of two different tasting moments. I guess I was pretty thirsty or very excited about drinking free beer at work the second time? :p Or I just wasn't in the mood the first time. That's also possible.

Pours very hazy yellowblonde. Small, creamy, stable head. Smell is malty, bit belgian yeast profile. Bit bready. Taste is full, creamy, tad bitter. Balanced yeastprofile, easy drinker, malty base. Finally, a BE blonde that is interesting.

Spiced blonde (woodruff and yarrow) presented as a collaboration of Dok and Gent Brouwt, the collective of small Ghent-based brewers which Dok itself confusingly also is part of. Egg-white, dense, creamy, membrane-lacing head, misty golden blonde robe with apricot hue. Aroma of indeed very strong yarrow (something I identified even before knowing it was in the beer), camomile, lemon zest, soap, woodruff sweetness (almost rosemary-like) but far less clear than the yarrow ‘floweriness’, apple peel, green pear. Crisp, fruity onset, hard pear and ripe apple, fizzy carb, smooth and bit soapy mouthfeel, cereally pale malt sweetness under a growing aromatic spiciness where the powdery-floral yarrow remains dominant, but the ethereal sweetishness of the woodruff comes more to the foreground eventually as well; the fizzy effects of the strong carbonation remain till the end, while hops add a late but effective, leafy bitterness. Spice beers are normally not really my cup of tea, but this one is very enjoyable, with a kind of crispness, clarity of flavours and focused character I rarely see in Belgian spice beers. The yarrow and the woodruff combine better than you would expect. Would drink this one again.
