Hazy golden colour, white foam. Sweet malty nose, notes of tropical fruit and a lot of herbal notes. Rather bitter finish. A bit messy and unbalanced.

Can from Etre Gourmet webshop, Belgium. Had this Friday 1st May 2020 listening to Cillian Murphy on 6Music, cooking Chicken Rogan Josh from The Curry Guy book, also cooking Homemade Nan Bread and Onion and Potato Bhajis. Pours hazy gold with an off white head. A little zest on the nose along with spices such as ginger and a little yeast also. Bitter, punchy hops, pine resin, a streak of lime juice, a hint of chilli, a little juicy. I find this v.good, however I could see it being a divisive love/hate beer.

24/XI/19 - on tap @ DOK Brewing Company (Gent), BB: n/a - (2019-1901)

Clear orange beer, small creamy dense white head, stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: fruity, mango, some caramel. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: lots and lots of lime, pretty bitter, bit sweet, orange juice, nice one! Aftertaste: very bitter, zesty, lots of lime, bit medicinal, orange peel, bitter, somewhat syrupy, sticky sugary notes.

New Dok IPA centered around a Mexican theme (Dia de los Muertos), containing corn in the malt bill for an extra Mexican touch (or an ironic nod to Corona Extra and its congeners), and flavoured with lime peel and coriander seed. Snow white, mousy and dense, stable, membrane-lacing head on a hazy old gold beer with warm peachy-pale orangey tinge. Aroma of indeed very pronounced fresh lime (also candied lemon peel- and lime juice-like) hovering over fragrances of grapefruit zest, dough, hard caramel, white pepper, dried lavender (the soapy aspect of the coriander no doubt), rainwater. Cleanly fruity onset, mango peel, strong lime zest, green banana and a touch green melon, light residual sugary sweetish note, sharp and very fizzy carbonation, very minerally. Smooth, very slick (corn!) cereally and very lightly caramelly malt sweetish body, oily, with an aromatic finish of again strong lime zest (almost mojito-ish), candied orange, grapefruit zest and lavender, with the soapy effect of the coriander seed remaining noticeable. Somewhat powdery and resinous feel in the end, with that candied citrus aspect still hanging around, highlighted by gently warming alcohol, somewhat liqueurish when the added flavourings come in. Weirdly aromatized IPA indeed, but in a ‘natural’ way, quite refreshing for a beer of this strength; the coriander seed could have been left out for me, but admittedly this is an interesting experiment and frankly, I liked this beer quite a lot and will certainly revisit it next time I visit Hal 16 at Dok Noord.
