Lights Out is a blend of stouts aged in Heaven Hill and Four Roses Bourbon Barrels for up to 24 months. We finished it on over 20lbs of toasted coconut PER BARREL, resulting in a stout bursting with coconut goodness. On the nose, aromas of coconut prevail, with undertones of rich dark chocolate and bourbon. On the palate, look for similar flavours to dominate along with notes of coffee, black liquorice and vanilla on the finish.

Can thanks Alex, shared by Daniele with Mortlach. Ink pour with a short lasting brownish foam. Nose: nutty, chocolate, coconut. Mouth: sweet, fat RIS which gives chocolate mouthfeel and sugary feel.

Can shared with Daniele & ippopotamo36, gift from fiulijn (thank you Alex!). Nera, densa, impenetrabile, schiuma color cappuccino molto poco persistente. Al naso note di cocco, cioccolato, vaniglia, melassa, ossidazione. In bocca Γ¨ dolce, non bilanciatissima, rozza. Corpo pieno, carbonazione medio-bassa. Mi aspettavo di piΓΉ.

Dark brown, no head. Aroma of chocolate, coconut and alcohol, and random bourbon notes. On the palate it’s pretty boozy up front, and then sweetness of the chocolate and oiliness of the coconut serves to temper that somewhat. The barrels lend a fair bit of richness, and added character. Drinks very well, all told, though I’ve had more complex similar beers.

355 ml can. Pours a very dark brown with full head. Aromas of coconut, cola, and soft roasted malts. Flavors of sweetened coconut, chocolate macaroons, and sweet toasted malts. Cannot get much of the barrels, thinner than expected, and overly sweet. Bigger, richer and creamier would have been excellent. ABV well hidden and easy to drink.

Re-rate: Poured from 355mL can (side by side with 2020 and 2021). Near black with small, dissipating beige head. The least depth of the three and it has the highest abv. Raising my rating (I feel my taste has changed, I appreciate the boozy bourbon notes and sweetness in beer now, but it is definitely the least complex of the three versions - I actually think there's more booze and more coconut in the other two versions so don't know why I was such a hate rater at that time). Nov 20, 2019 (8/3/6/3/14=3.4): Poured from the tap @ Twin Sails. Near black with almost no beige head. Tons and tons of sweet coconut, with some boozy barrel, mild chocolate. Too sweet, too boozy, like a coconut liqueur to be mixed into a cocktail.

On tap at Twin Sails, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma reveals the sweet coconut upfront, with a touch of cocoa, and surprisingly subdued barrels. Flavour is unreal, with heaps of coconut dominating upfront, followed by chocolate, and rounded by gentle barrels. The coconut dominates so much that the barrels seem to be pushed back. The 15% is scarily hidden. Beautiful, decadent stuff.

Intense fresh coconut and chocolate. Jet black brown with almost no head. Rich and sweet molasses with a long coconut finish.

12oz shared with Andrey. Appearance: almost black with a weak beige head. Aroma: nice sweet coconut, vanilla, some bourbon barrels. Taste: along the same lines, quite boozy, quite sweet, but it is nicely supported by the body. Overall: very nice.
