Black color with giant brownish creamy head. Tasted side to side with the Clynelish version, the aroma is lighter; there is some roasted malt, some peat and some marine/iodine breeze. The body is leaner, the mouthfeel is smooth, also with a lot of carbonation still; roasted malt flavor, good, with a pleasant combination of peat and liquorice; strong but balanced bitterness, with some more roastiness in the final and liquorice.
Very good, but surprisingly the peaty whiskey doesn’t add so much, and it seems less reach than the Clynelish.

Bottle at home, from Summer Wine online, 17/01/13. Pours mid black (very dark mahogony brown in light) with a tan head that soon collapses to a film and surrounds the edge of the glass. Nose is espresso coffee, tirimasu, sweet sugars, wood, touch of booze, a little smoked peatyness. Taste comprises roast malts, sweet espresso coffee, dark chocolate, peated whiskey and wood but well integrated and not OTT, dark sugars. Palate is perfect for me, full bodied, smooth, fine carbonation, sweet dry finish with a touch of booze. Pretty damn good - the whisky flavour is well integrated and not overpowering the coffee in the base stout, a little on the sweet side at times but the whole balance up is good and it never becomes overbearing. More !!!

Bottled. A pitch black beer with a huge dark brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, chcolate, whiskey, and wood. The flavor is sweet with notes of notes of roasted malt, caramel, iodine, whiskey, and wood, leading to a dry alcoholic finish.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of madmitch76. Pours an opaque black with a HUGE frothy and lively light brown head leaving quite some lacework - amazing retention. Rustic, alcoholic, ashy aroma with a little tar. Medium body only, hard roast, now the peat and iodine comes through. Charry. Quite some alcohol in the finish. For a peaty beer this ain’t too bad. 301112
