Troubadour Imperial Stout is a real Imperial Stout, but with a Belgian twist. The beer is almost black and has a solid crème coloured head. It is a powerful beer with strong roasted fragrances. You can taste notes of chocolate, toffee and coffee, followed by a bitter aftertaste.

750 ml bottle courtesy of Stefan (non-RB). Pours very dark brown with a huge brownish gray head that slowly dissipates while leaving lots and lots of trace on the glass. Smell is sweet and malty with dried sweet dark fruits, roasted malts, toast, dusty barnyard, glue, alcohol and liquorice root. Taste is sweet, slightly sour and metallic with roasted malts, coffee, lemon juice, barnyard, silage, pine, phenols and esters. Mouthfeel is tiny sticky sweet, tiny oily bitter and medium bodied. Finish is sweet and bitter with oily pine, silage, orange zest and coffee. Possibly infected.

On tap at The Hay Merchant. Pours a dark brown with small beige head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is coffee and roasted malt. Thin mouthfeel with a rich malt with chocolate and nuts. Easy to drink hiding alcohol well. A very impressive Imperial stout from De Prof.

750 ml bottle. Amber body with a huge, creamy beige head. A bit weak in aroma, hint of chocolate and Belgium yeast. Flavor is sweet malty, chocolate, slightly roasted and mild bitterness. Medium body and OK aftertaste. Nice but nothing extraordinary.

Bottle from Dranken Geers, Oostakker, Gent, Nr Belgium (not sure when I purchased this) consumed at home Sun 1st April 2012 Black with large billowing tan head. Aroma has a creamy vanilla touch to it, taste is quite bitter and roasty but it is also rich with some liquorice and coffee. Nice beer, but 750ml is quite a lot for just me. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.6
