The traditional sour beer uses the wild yeast found around the farm. This gives the beer a soft, refreshing sour taste. After a year of aging on a barrel this beer is ready for consumption. Each batch of Zure van Tildonk is carefully aged in our cellars at the Engelburcht Monastery for several months prior to release.

Bottle sample at a Beer And Beyond sour beers tasting at their shop. Cloudy golden with a wite head. Funky aroma with fruitiness, earth, vinous notes and dirty socks. Sour flavor, funky, fruity, slightly vinous and a bit boozy with a bitter finish. Medium-bodied. Decent.

Bottle. Pours a lively golden beer. Earthy aroma of tart. Taste is mildly sour, with a note of horseblanket, apple and oak. Doesn’t last long. Reminds me of a tardy cider.

Flaska på Brekeriet Bar. Smak och doft av jäst, äpple, örter, äng med vittvin karaktär. Rund och len, torr med viss syrlighet. Känsla av mjölkbakterier. Riktigt gott och uppfriskande.

375 ml bottle into tulip glass, best before 12/2017. Pours fairly crystal clear golden straw color with a 2 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of tart lemon, green apple, pear, white wine, hay, straw, grass, oak, light vinegar, cracker, bread, light musty funk, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and solid complexity of fruity/funky yeast, pale malt, and oak notes; with solid strength. Taste of tart lemon, green apple, pear, white wine, hay, straw, grass, light vinegar, cracker, bread, light musty funk, and yeast earthiness. Fair amount of fruity/earthy tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of tart lemon, green apple, pear, white wine, hay, straw, grass, oak, light vinegar, cracker, bread, and light musty funk on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and robustness of fruity/funky yeast, pale malt, and oak flavors; with a nice sweetness/tartness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly acidic mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with zero warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very good unblended lambic style. All around good complexity and robustness of fruity/funky yeast, pale malt, and oak flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink with the lighter acidity. A bit lacking in complexity overall, but given the unblended style it was still adequate. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Bottle at Paradiso. Darrel described it as wet dog eating a wet dog biscuit. I agree.

Intense funk, persimmon, lemon, cheese, Hazy golden, thin head. Pear and lime flavor, lemon present, lighter funk notes. Apple core, mustiness, dank basement. Blast of maltiness in the end. This was really freaking good, tons of personality, complexity , and distinction.
