6th May 2008. Rich brown beer made with honey. Definite treacle note but also faint bubblegum. Dry finish with a coca cola bitterness. Yeasty nose. Faint Melon and Apple notes. Complex and hard to pin down.

Bottle. Dark brown pour with a nice beige head on top. Definite aroma of honey. Quite sweet, honey, apples, spice, dark fruity taste. Alcohol quite well hidden. Pretty good Belgian strong ale.IMO it used to be better when it was brewed over at Watou 4/5 years ago.

Dark brown colour, small off-white head. Aroma has malts, fruits and a lot of spices. Flavour is very spiced too, with coriander and cloves. Malty and fruity. Nice one.

Bottle at the Delirium Pub in Brussels. Dark brown color with orange hilites. Lacing beige/tan head. Dusty dark malt and dark fruit aromas - mild - not rich and over sweet. Medium body with near fizzy carbonation. Flavor is dryish dark fruit and malt. Don’t get honey. Finish is dusty dry with floral aspects. Different. A good sipper.

(Bottle, Monk’s Café, Stockholm) Black colour with ruby notes, frothy brown head. Malty, burnt nose with sweet hints of coffee and honey. Malty, roasted taste with notes of sweet coffee, honey, liquorice and soy sauce. Short finish with brown sugar and coffee, not very bitter. Full bodied with slightly oily texture, alcohol well hidden. Nice and well rounded beer, but on the sweet side.

33 cL bottle. Pours hazy dark brown with a huge creamy light brown head. Sweet roasted malt aroma with a light note of honey. Slight sweet into a more herbal and slight acidic finish with bitterness. Reveals some malty and yeasty mixtured flavour with a slight edge and some softness from the honey. Good but nothing really thrilling.

Bottle from Hopduvel warehouse, Gent. Near black in colour with honeyish aroma. Taste failed to go beyond an indeterminate one-dimensional sweetness. An unrewarding strong beer - possibly part of an an off-batch?
