Coppery colour with an off-white head that quickly dissapears. Aroma has notes of toasted malts, caramel and spices. Flavor with hints of anise, slightly jinger and cardamom and sweet sirupy fruit, good maltiness with toasted hints. The final is mild sweet with a lot of spices.

Bottle from Tescos. Pours chestnut brown with a hint of red, flat with little carbonation and no head.  Smells of chocolate covered cherries, treacle tart, astringency. Taste is wonderful: initially sweet without cloying, followed by a bittersweet finish and aftertaste. Full alcohol hit carries through. Great balance. Thin flat palate is a slight letdown.

Bottle at home. Has a golden amber colour with a small and light beige head. The aroma is fruity with notes of peach and undertones of fruity hops. In addition, the aroma is also malty with a mild chocolate flavour. The taste has a greater influence of fruits and berries, but also some dried fruit and leather. The beer has a surprisingly smooth and silky mouthfeel and a light bitterness. This ale has a nice aroma, but the taste does not follow up and is fairly light.

Bottle from Tesco. Poured a clear chesnut brown with a bubbly off white head. The aroma is dry yeast and red berry fruit with a hint of dough. The flavour is medium bitter with a fruity hop woody palate and a long weak bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation. A decent Christmas beer but I have tested much better.
